Prologue
The white she-cat landed on a rock, then settled down. A crystalic-looking dark gray she-cat followed, sitting beside her. A tall golden figure came out of the shadows. "Yellowfang, Sagewhisker." it rumbled. Sagewhisker and Yellowfang nodded. He huffed and turned away, ordering them with the flick of his tail to follow. Sagewhisker and Yellowfang both got up. They followed obediently behind the waterfall. "Ugh... I'm wet." Yellowfang muttered to Sagewhisker. Sagewhisker did not speak, but padded on. The golden cat sat down beside a blue-gray she-cat, a large circle of StarClan cats in a circle. "Thank you, Lionheart. Sagewhisker, Yellowfang, we have much to talk about," the blue-gray she-cat rang out in the cavern. "But Bluestar," Sagewhisker interrupted. "why here?" Bluestar's eyes flashed, and she looked at Sagewhisker. "It's the only safe place from the Dark Forest. Why else?" Sagewhisker ducked her head in foolishness. She flicked her ear. "Sorry, Bluestar," she mumbled softly. Bluestar's piercing blue eyes looked from cat to cat. She looked at the opening in the cavern, moon shining down brightly. "There is a prophecy, so I've heard." she sighed looking back at the cats around her. She flicked her ear, watching their intense faces crease with worry. "Tabbies of light and dust will rage through the forest, ripping down trees and brambles. A lily will float, the risk to sink, or the power to bring beauty once more." The cats around the cavern looked at eachother with many looks. Concern, confusion, and scorn. "This is all I know for now. Dismissed." the old blue-gray she-cat rang out. Bluestar watched as they left. She must alert Brackennose.
The brown tabby tom restlessly filed through herbs, looking for catmint. "Aha," he picked uo the raggedy leaves and set them down in front of Moosetail. "There." he meowed with pleasure. "Eat this. Your cough should soothe a bit." Moosetail looked down at the leaves, then back at Brackennose. "Does it taste as good as it smells?" the brown cat asked, nose twitching. Brackennose grumbled. He hated when cats questioned him. "Yes, Moosetail, it's delicious. Simply wonderful. Now eat." The she-cat ducked her head down and lapped up the leaves. She closed her eyes and rested her head, attempting to savor the flavor. Brackennose noticed this, and twitched his ear. "If you savor it for too long, it will taste like dung." Moosetail looked up, eyes wide, and swallowed. She suddenly screwed up her face and stuck out her toung. "Blegh!" Brackennose curled up in a nest. "Now sleep." He growled and closed his eyes, feeling woozy. He slowly drifted to sleep.
A gray tabby looked down at the awakening Brackennose. "This is urgent. You must listen," he meowed and began to speak. "Tabbies of light and dust will rage through the forest, ripping down trees and brambles. A lily will float, the risk to sink, or the power to bring beauty once more." he began. Beware, Brackennose. "B-but Jayfeather!" he called as he fell into oblivion. All that was left was to keep a lookout for anything that would mean anything. And he knew just who to look out for.
