Josh's P.O.V
I dug my feet into the radiant silky sand until I couldn't see them anymore. Closing my eyes just for a moment, it was remarkably serene, nobody to inconvenience me, no fans to acknowledge my validity, nothing. Only the periodic chirp and the splash of the chilled tides disturbing the stillness.
I breathed in, then breathed out, this is what I exist for. I live for all of this, the breeze that strokes your skin, the blades of grass, that tickle with each burst of air, the delicate trickle of water, everything.I opened my eyes, taking in the gorgeous spectacle in front of me, the surges, crashing up against the sand, with every burst of vitality it casts off, it leaves an impression on the saturated sand. Birds twittering elegant harmonies while gliding with high dignity. A small smile rose to my lips, and I breathed in, breathed out.
I began to hum a soft melodic harmony, gradually getting engulfed with the music, I closed my eyes, and let significant words leave my lips.
"She's a lady, comes, from all around.
Many places but she's homeward bound, day by day by day, our love grows.""That's beautiful."
My eyes opened, bewildered, I looked behind me and seen a petite girl.
"Hello, sorry for disrupting you, I was just walking by when I heard you sing."
Her porcelain cheeks veered into a glowing shade of pink, accentuating her soft cheeks.
Her vast brown pools of eyes, sparkling in the suns' glimmer, making all her lovely features 'Pop'.
"No no, it's fine."
A relaxed smile rose to her pink plump lips.
A bizarre sensation shot through me.
"May I sit with you?"
She asked with little faith. I silently nodded my head, scooting over just a little bit, making room for the small delightful girl.
She sat down, and I got a closer look towards her. Her rosy cheeks gave her face colour. Little freckles speckled her button nose, slowly broadening towards her soft cheeks. No conspicuous blemishes were to be recognized. Her delicate fingers laid on the grass, supporting her small frame.
With new confidence in her voice, she rehearsed.
"My name is Jullian."
A small smile grew into my lips,
"I'm Joshua, but everyone calls me Josh."
A modest silence came over us. The sky began to darken with each fleeting moment, the sunset reflected off the ocean's tides.
My mouth moved on its own,
"It's quite nice out isn't it."
She hummed in response.
I nodded my head, watching the sunset unhurriedly disappear under the horizon.
Snap
Startled, I slowly glanced over, looking at the girl. Rested in her wiry fingers was a camera, pointed out towards the virtually vacated sunset. Another snap halted the small stillness.
"I'm a photographer."
She got silent, a troubled look taking over her delicate features.
"Well trying to be one."
She realized.
I nodded my head.
She set her camera down, capturing the last glimpses of the setting sun before it vanished. The last hues of the oranges, pinks, and yellows also fleeing with the sun, going on their own little adventure around the world, once again.
"Sometimes, I wish I could go along with the sun. Go around the world, and not to worry about anything. Just, to be useful."
She spoke, she set her camera on the ground beside us, stabilizing herself with her hands.
"Sometimes, I just wish I could live in peace, not having to tour a lot. To just stay in one place."
I opened up a little.
"That would be hard, not having a forever home. Moving a lot."
She sighed, I looked over at her, her chocolate gleaming brown eyes meeting my ordinary ancient brown ones. An individual tear slid down her cheek, towards her chin. A torn smile replaced her lips.
"Are you-"
"-I can't do this anymore..."
Her voice broke down, with each utterance. Sluggish sobs left her lips.
I lifted my hand up, gently dabbing her tears away.
"What do you mean, love?"
I cleaned the thin sheet of tears from her cheek.
"I-I, I just can't anymore."
Her arms went lifeless, while her face distorted into distress.
My expression softened, my arms swaddled her in a hug, she sobbed into my shoulder, saturating my shirt with her tears.
"Shh shh, it's ok. I'm here."
I stroked small configurations into her back, humming a soft melody.
The bird chirpings steadied, leaving the only sound of my humming to be heard.
"S-Sometimes I just feel lost. Like I just space out, and wish I was never here..."
her voice trailed off, leaving us in serene stillness.
I continued to rub her back in a small soothing gesture, also humming the small tune that was stuck in my head at the moment.
"It's ok, I'm here, don't worry,"
I said in a tranquil tone.
"I-I feel safe with you, Josh. Don't ever leave me."
she pleaded I contemplated around the thought, not knowing what to do. I stayed silent.
"S-Sorry..."
She pulled away from me, curling up into a taut ball, the moon emphasized her small face, making her exceptionally lovely, the light in the perfect places.
"No no. It's fine."
She hoisted her head up, A new film of tears coated her cheeks once again.
I extended my hand out, dabbing them away.
"Come with me, I'll take you with me."
I slowly stood up, dusting all the extra sand that appeared to stick to me. I held my hand out, waiting for the small girl to take it.
Her small delicate fingers fastened around my long ones, and I pulled her up, taking her into my arms.
"Thank you, Josh."
"No, thank you, Jillian."
She smiled, picking up her camera.
