"Count five things you see."
"The chair, my sneakers, the bed, you, and your dumb cat."
"Rude, but count four things you can hear."
"The T.V., Beyond's music, the kids laughing, and-"
"Whaaaaa"
"The baby crying."
"Great, now three things you smell."
"Cigarettes, stale pizza, and MacDonald's."
"A man's gotta eat. Two things you taste."
"Bitterness and peppermint."
"And lastly, one thing you feel."
A looked down at the floor, twiddling his thumbs, until he could find an appropriate answer. "Relieved." He sighed as laid back down onto his bed.
L just laid down next to him as they both stared at the ceiling.
"So...how ya feeling?"
Once again, A pondered before answering. Sure, with everything going on he felt pretty terrible. But, he had Beyond, and Watari, and Rodger, and the kids, and L. Things did kinda suck, but not as bad as they were. Not as bad as they could be. They made it alright.
"Kinda...good, actually."
And this time he wasn't lying.
And so they just sat there talking about cartoons and music. Their favorite yugioh cards. L missed such a simple thing. Life as a detective was fun but also very busy. It was nice to take a break for a bit. Just enjoy life. To be there for A and B.
"Can I join you guys."
At the door was Beyond, red eyes and nose runny. They didn't ask why he was crying, they just scooted over and gave him some room on the bed.
"So what's your favorite yugioh card?"
"Duh, blue eyes white dragon."
It was a nice night.

A quick one shot for my new series. I think you guys know the semantics but if you don't, its basically one shots of wammy House. Maybe sometimes I'll bring in other characters from the original series so don't worry if you don't see your favorite character
