I felt kisses on my cheek and opened my eyes that got met by two green orbs staring straight into my soul. I wanted to speak, but two soft lips stopped mine from uttering a single word. Instead they just danced along with the lips of the caramel skinned lover in front of my face. She pulled away, and the she became a he, weirdly I just became more aroused as I realised that it was Dominick.
"Hey, I heard what happened. Are you okay?"
"What happene-" I remembered the fight with Tracey and the accident. The accident!! Panicking, I checked myself, feeling my face and torso before moving to my lower body. How is this possible?! Not a scratch. Except, if it wasn't. I jumped out of bed and went to the window, peering out I saw a black corvette in mint condition. Impossible.
I snapped out of my dream and was met by an empty white room.
Where am I?
I felt a pain in my left arm and looked down to see a drip in it. Out of shock, I moved my right arm to rip the tube out of my body, only to feel a deep pain pulse through my shoulder as I realised that it is in a sling. Frantically I checked the rest of my body, to realise that my left leg was heavily bandaged.
What the fuck?! Was the accident really that bad?!?
I heard someone entering and saw a young nurse. His blue eyes were calm as he spoke.
"Good morning mr. Dwight, glad to see you conscious again. Almost had to book you into ICU, seeing that you were going for your third day of unconsciousness. We ran som-"
"What? Wait, how long have I been here?"
"A bit over two days, the accident happened on Wednesday and today is Friday."
"Friday? How?!"
"As I was saying, mr. Dwight-"
"Dev"
"Mr.... Dev." He said confused and proceeded "We ran some tests, your injuries were not too severe. You cracked your ulna when it, assumably, hit the steering wheel. Your leg's muscles were also severly hurt so we bandaged it to restrict movement. The most severe injury was that of your forehead, we cleaned away the shards of glass and bandaged that as well. You are fortunate, if you hit your head any harder, you would've cracked your skull which would've allowed the glass to enter your brain. Which would've been fatal."
"A-and my car?"
"Totalled and mangled beyond recognition"
I was shocked and my parents' voices started echoing in my head over how I am a dissapointment and should be like my brother and how I would never ammount to anything, acting like this.
"Uh.. Dev" I snapped out of my daze "where do you come from?"
I looked at him puzzled
"With whom do you live? In the past two days there had not been any calls or visitors, the insurance gave us a number and we called, but to no avail."
"No one?"
"...No..." he replied uncomfortably.
I felt like I was struck through the face with a baseball bat, and it was not the throbbing in my forehead caused by the accident. I knew my parents and Tracy were hard on me, but I thought it was out of concern or due to my occasional underperformance or incompetence, that is why I worked so hard to please them.
I felt the bed sink in as the doctor sat down. "Look, kid," those blue crystals filled with compassion -something that scared me. The last time I saw it was in my father's eyes, when I was seven, before my parents became successful, before my father's heart shriveled up.- "I don't know what is happening in your life, but I would like to make things easier... I tell you what, you are not old enough to discharge yourself, but I will do my checks on you and if you are fine, I'd like you to know that your phone is in the drawer of the bedside table on the left. I have another patient to check up on, after you, and wont be back in a while. Do not do anything stupid, like taking your phone and calling yourself an uber to get out of here."
I nodded, understanding the plan.
He did his checkups, testing my arms and monitoring the pain while taking notes. When he started examining my leg, I jumped. Not because of the pain, but because of his pale white hand touching my naked upper thigh. He seemed to realise and just grinned slightly, continuing as if nothing happened.
"Ok, you are good to go... uh, well enough to let someone sign you out." Saying the last part in a higher voice.
"Uh, thanks doc."
After he left I did exactly what he told me "not to do".
