She was left desolated.
She knew her heart was also burning with it,
with the piece of paper that once she tucked close to her.
But now she could only stare at it burning,
until it became nothing but ashes,
until it became nothing but cremains of her own heart.

Lovies! So this "piece of paper" is used as a metaphor here. This entire poem visualizes a person watching something very precious to her burn away. And also the helplessness she feels carried by certain bindings of life.
