Boy at heart

CHAPTER 2

In her haste to quickly get away from Cedric , Ivana decides to leave her old bicycle which she bought with her first salary and has being using since as her transport means to school home as she does each time such incidents occur but feeling a bit light headed since the plan worked.

This morning just like some other mornings that she has such encounters with Rose's elder son , she usually prefers to either walk to school or take a bus since that seems to relax her mind a bit so she decided to walk today.

Her mind not really on the road and still on this morning's incident Ivana is knocked on the ground by a very expensive looking car whiles crossing the road and hits her head on the ground making her lose consciousness.

The driver stops the vehicle
and quickly rushes over to Ivana all the while letting out tons of apologies and mumbling some curses under his breath. A man in his fifties also gets out of the car and runs to Ivana's side.

The driver quickly picks her up bridal style and puts her inside the car gently with the other man following closely behind. They get into the car and the driver quickly takes them to the hospital.

Ivana is then admitted to the hospital and is treated by a doctor as a minor injury. Ivana regains consciousness few hours later and is surprised to see her in a different environment other than her classroom. She looks around and immediately notice that she is in a nicely furnished private room and not the ordinary ones that she is used to.

She then remembers the accident and thank God that the people didn't just leave her on the road to die but were kind enough to bring her here. A nurse comes by her side to see if she's okay and later goes out to call the doctor.

The doctor comes in soon after with the man by his side and introduces himself as Mr Anthony Lockwood. Mr Lockwood then tells Ivana what happened and apologises continuously. Ivana tells the man that it's okay and that he shouldn't worry since the accident was mainly her fault since her mind was somewhere else whiles she was crossing the road.

Ivana then introduces herself to them and the doctor tell them she can now be discharged since she didn't get any major injuries but had just a minor concussion but might experience some dizziness and maybe slight headaches since she hit her head pretty hard.

Ivana then looks over at the clock and lets out a scream when she sees that it's already 10pm and remembers she had missed school and so they may be looking for by now since she hadn't stayed out this late before.

Mr Lockwood tells her not to worry about getting reprimanded at home and pleads with her to allow him to take her with him for  safety reasons. The man then asks to speak with her parents to take permission and assure them of her well-being. Ivana gives him Aunty Rose's number and the man excuses himself to speak with her concerning her recovery.

Ivana becomes a little sad when each time Mr Lockwood mentions the word parent but masks each sadness. Ivana sits quietly on the bed and ponders over the name Lockwood since it sounded so familiar. She once again checked her surroundings and was somehow got the feeling that she would be safe.

After much thought and still unable to remember where she had heard that name before she gives up. Mr Lockwood then enters the room with a bit sadness on his face and tells her that she had been given the go ahead to stay until she recovers and that they had to leave the hospital now.

Ivana makes a mental note to ask Mr Lockwood why he had that look on his face when he entered the room after the phone call with Aunty Rose and wondered if Rose had told him about her real parents which made him pity her.

Mr Lockwood thanks the doctor and the driver comes to Ivana's side with an scared and sad face and begins apologizing to her that it was actually his fault and a whole lot of other stuffs like how he didn't really want to go to prison.

Ivana just laughs and tells him that there'll be no pressing of charges since it was her fault for not concentrating on the road when crossing it. The driver heaves a sigh of relief and walks Ivana out of the room to the car all the while thanking her over and over again.
