Adrien's heart skips a beat as his body jolts awake. His alarm. Why is his alarm going off already? There's no way it's morning. Half-asleep, he fumbles for his phone. He exposes but a sliver of his eye to the blinding screen. It's so much brighter than usual.

"Ow," he croaks.

Clumsily, he attempts to turn the brightness down. His finger misses his target several times before the phone slips from his palm onto the floor. His floors are marble...Crap, his floors are marble.

CRACK

His entire body tenses at the sound. He lies there for a minute. Slowly, his eyes creak open to reveal...darkness. It's still nighttime. He stares up at the ceiling. The blackness creates little shapes and colors in front of his eyes. He's just so tired. He'll check the damage in the morning. With a decisive grunt he flips back onto his side.

BEEP BEEP BEEP

His phone is this close to being chucked out the window. Angrily, he springs out of bed and turns off his alarm with way more force than actually needed. Why in the heck was his alarm set for 3 a.m.?!...Oh. Wait. Using his phone's light, Adrien scans the top of his dresser. There's his ring.

"Chat Noir," he mumbles.

It takes a second before a giddy smile begins to form. He remembers why that alarm was set.

"This black cat is roamin' the streets of Paris!"

With shaky excitement, he slips on the ring. The familiar sensation overwhelms him. Is he crying? Probably.

"Claws out!"

Snapping off the window lock, he swings himself onto the roof. How did he ever give this up?
