I woke up in the backseat with my neck at a painful angle with my chin on my collar bone and my legs up on the wall.
The door on my left opened as I fell out of the chair, failing my attempt to sit up.
I groaned and rubbed my forehead for a moment.
"Sir, the boat is ready for the trip," Kellen said.
"Great. Another miserable ride. Across the ocean of course," I mumbled, stumbling as I crawled on my knees towards the door while my right arm glided across the barrier, my left arm on the chair on my opposite side.
Stepping onto the concrete, the sun was noticeably low. The air smelt of ocean water: a strong stench of salt.
"Pardon me, sir, but may I ask about your siblings?" Kellen asked. I was quiet for a while as he walked with me and James towards the boat. The ship was large with crates, cranes, huge boxes, and smaller boats that you could throw off in case of emergency.
As I watched the dark waves crash against the faded gray metal, I thought of what to say.
"Good or bad things?" I asked.
Kellen shrugged.
"Whatever you wish."
"Okay, they treated me like crap. End of story."
"You still feel this way even after they're gone?" He asked.
"That I'm not around them anymore?"
"No, sir. They're missing. The night you were found was when they were said to have disappeared. They never returned home."
"You're kidding, right?" I laughed nervously as we walked over a wooden platform to board the ship. The water below caught my attention with my mind pleading not to trip and fall in.
"They're missing, sir."
We were now on the ship, the floor swaying as the massive boat swayed on the waves. The sun was gone now, leaving the world around me in darkness, besides the glistening floors illuminated by lamps and various other light sources.
"They chased after me, but after I fell into the ditch... What happened to them?" I asked.
"I apologize, but we have no clue, sir."
I began to think, leaning on the edge of the boat.
Kellen was on my left, standing with amazing posture while James leaned onto the railing on my right, sighing while staring out over the water.
What could have happened? I'm sure they're probably taking their sweet time to head back home. Where would they have gone?
"LEAVING THE DOCK!" Someone shouted from the top deck in the control room.
"Sir, we have guards all around the borders of the ship. Each one is armed. Each trained by the best in the business. There is nothing to worry about involving your safety. You're in the best hands."
I nodded, staring down at the black ripples, trying to decide whether it was us or the water that was moving.
"Explain to me why everyone knows who I am and why I'm being taken on this trip," I demanded. Kellen's sunglasses reflected the light from lamps, torches, or an occasional flashlight being carried by a guard.
"Let's face it, everyone knows you're different. Your personality, your ability to heal, and various other things. Truth be told, there was an experiment your parents signed you up for when you were born. It was called K-43. They'd inject you with their experimental fluids and test your reactions. You were one of 3 successful trials."
