I just moved from Bellingham in Washington, I left all my friends behind. I miss them already. Now all I have is my older brother Connor who is about to turn 20 in a week and looking for his own place, and my baby sister Paisley, 6 months old and cute as a button.
Here I am at my new home in Montreal Quebec. My name is Connie Batterson, I just turned 17.
"Connor? I could use a little help!" My mom yelled, brushing her hand through her short blond curly locks of hair.
"Yea, just a minute!" He replied. He handed paisley over to me, carelessly.
She started to wail and squirm.
"Look what you've done you big jerk! Be more careful next time!" I scolded him.
"Shut up Connie! You fat cow!" He said with a growl.
"Hey Connor you better watch your mouth or I will force you to live with uncle Kenny!" My dad yelled back he looked at Connor with his serious dark brown eyes.
Connor flipped back his short brown surfer styled hair and glared at me with his big blue eyes.
My dad and my uncle Kenny grew up in Hamilton Ontario. My uncle is tough as a rock, there's no messing with him unless you wanna a harsh whack on the back.
He is physco, probably had something horrible happen to him as a kid. My dad says he was taken by social services when he was 14 because my grandparents couldn't take care of him, he was to much to handle. Apparently his foster parents couildn't take him either and they got abusive. They ended up throwing him on the street and they got arrested. My uncle Kenny became a drug dealer at the age of 16 and got shot in the leg. He went to the hospital and they found out about his career. He was arrested but was soon released 8 years later, and now he lives in the cottage country of Quebec at age 32.
My parents barely keep in touch with him anymore since he got in a huge fight with my dad over how my uncle thinks my grandparents were horrible parents. My dad completely disagrees.
The weekend went by in a flash. School came, my first day. I made my way down to the office,to find out where my locker is. They directed me to it.
"Straight down that hall take the first right and you locker is to the left number 269." Mr.Dandlehoff explained. He's the principal. He looks like he's in his late 30's short clean cut brown hair and hazel eyes.
"Thanks, and nice to meet you Mr.Dandlehoff." I said quickly jogging out the door.
I walked down to my locker and shoved my back pack in. I looked at my school map. I made my way down to my home room to pick up my text books and agenda. I swiftly turned around not watching where I was going.
"Woah! I'm so sorry," This guy stared at me me with his beautiful chocolatey brown eyes. He started to pick up my books from the ground. I reached down to help.
"No no, it's okay I got it. I'm Parker by the way, Parker Thompson." He said fixing his short wavy hair. His hair is the same colour as mine a bit more blonde than dirty blonde, golden, the best type of blonde my mom says.
"Thanks, I'm Connie, Connie Batterson. See you around. Maybe same classes?"
"Oh probably not, I'm grade twelve, I'm just here to meet someone. But yea, see you around maybe." He said in the sweetest voice.
His voice was so soft and calming. I bet he has the best singing voice. I realized the time. Quarter to 12. almost time to go home. today was only an hour just to get your books and find your home room and where your different classes are. I was starting to like this school already.
I walked back down to my locker and threw my textbooks in, I grabbed my back pack and shoved my agenda in the front pocket.
"Hey, looks like we're neighbours!" I heard him behind me, Parker Thompson.
I turned around and saw him standing at the locker across from mine.
"Yea hey, well uhm catch you later? I gotta go. Sorry." I replied.
"Yeah sure. See ya." He said with a grin showing off his deep dimples.
I turned back around smiling to myself. I had no idea why, it was uncontrolled. I grabbed my bag and slammed my locker shut. I locked it and ran down the hall. I started thinking about how I look. maybe he was attracted to me. Nah he's just being friendly. Just my ususal casual outfit, blue jeans an oversized sweater and dark brown leather combat boots, my hair tied up in a bun. Nothing special. I walked back home.
Of course, as soon as I walk in the door, my brother asks me to take Paisley so he can go meet up with friends. I say yes because if I didn't he would start a fight and because I love my little sister. I took her and stroked her silky blonde hair. She had light blue eyes that seemed to never shut, she loves to play. Sleeping doesn't seem to be her thing. I set her down on the carpet in my room. I started unpacking some more clothes and stuffed them in my drawers and in the closet. I came across another box, it wasn't labled so I opened it up. On the very top was my diary. I lifted it up and looked under it. A picture of me and my ex-boyfriend. He only broke up with me because apparently long distance relationships aren't his thing. I couldn't believe him. After dating for 11 months, nearly a year he decides to dump me. What a jerk. I really miss him. But he's happy with some stupid girl he met through one of his teamates on his soccer team. I think her name's Kylie or something like that.
I heard paisley start to giggle, I looked over at her. She was playing with Okami, our German sheperd, my dads police dog. My dad is a cop and he's the reason we live here now. He got transported. Okami is super friendly and I'm pretty sure he claimed owner ship over Paisley because he even sleeps right beside her crib.
Dinner finally came. We all sat down. My mom made a huge pot of spaghetti and a huge bowl of cesar salad. We said our prayers and started to eat.
"So how was you 'introduction' to your new highschool today?" My mom asked in curiosity.
"Uh, fine I guess, so far everyone seems friendly. The school itself is pretty modern they seem to be up to date with the all latest technology, like the principal was carrying around an i-pad mini." I replied.
"Nice, sounds like the school we read about." My dad said twirling his spaghetti.
"What? I'm sorry that wasn't clear." I said confused.
"I mean, they didn't lie about the school environment when we read about it online." My dad explained while fixing his dark brown hair and taking off his Ray Ban sun-glasses.
"Oh I get it." I said while picking up my empty plate and shoving it in the dishwasher.
I got ready for bed I ate pretty fast. I got on my laptop and opened up facebook. I was curious to see if Parker had facebook. I typed in his name. He instantly popped up, his profile picture was just a selfie, his big smile showing his teeth and dimples. I sent a friend request, then shut off my laptop. I was done for the day.
Thats the end of chapter 1, chapter 2 coming soon!
