It was just another April spring morning, the sun was shining through a girl's windows and the birds were chirping softly. The sweet scent of cherry blossoms wafted into her clean, organised yet dull room. Akemi slowly opened her vibrantly violet eye and shivered as she recalled the strange dream she had had that night about a girl walking in a field of vicious flowers. Something was so familiar about that place, yet she didn't have time to dwell on it.
Akemi lifted her head slowly and rolled out of bed like a burrito, sloppily and slowly making her bed before (regrettably) getting in her mundane school uniform which consisted of a navy long sleeved sailor shirt adorned with a thin red ribbon and a knee length pleated skirt. She pulled on her black stockings and pulled her long raven black hair back into two loose plaits, putting on her usual black eyepatch to cover the gorish mess of her right eye socket (thanks to the school bullies) before making her way downstairs.
Having already scoffed down her pancakes, she was at the front door. She waved goodbye to her parents before running to school, just wanting to get this day over... or so she thought...
She was met at the school gates by that familiar blue haired boy. His name was Kaito, and every time she saw him, she could feel it in her weak heart, it sped up twice as fast as adrenaline and dopamine pumped through her body. She could feel it in her lungs. It was like something was growing in there, something painful but bittersweet. She smiled weakly as usual, hugging him in an instant, craving his warmth.
"Hey Kaito" She mumbled quietly, letting go of the hug and looking up at him, after all, there was a decently large height gap. And of course (as per usual) she was still the short one.
"Hey Kemi~!" He beamed back, his eyes sparking like the sun at the sight of her, holding a beautiful bouquet of violet lavender wrapped by a cute little red ribbon at his side and slightly behind himself in an attempt to hide it, like a suprise meant for Akemi. Even through his effort to hide the bouquet, Akemi noticed the dazzling flowers, smiling.
"Who are those for?" She asked with a small shuffle, feeling the pain in her lungs get even worse, the pain moving to her heart like it always did, almost like the flowers were just making the pain grow and grow like a garden.
"T-they're for you," He whispered like a confession, taking another breath before saying his next words.
"I-i uhm, I grew them especially for you, they remind me of your eye." He whispers even quieter, looking away, a feeling of irresistible pain growing in his lungs as well. She smiled sweetly as she held the flowers.
"Thank you, that's... really kind of you" She mumbles quietly. She started to feel the pain rising in her chest, a choking like feeling starting to engulf her neck. She almost dropped the flowers in fright, hoping to god this isn't what she thought it was.
"K-kaito, you know what Hanahaki disease is... right??" She asks quietly, looking at him with a fearful eye, quivering like petals in the wind.
"Isn't it that disease where people start coughing up the favourite flowers of the person they love when the love is unrequited or not realised...? Or something like that... And there's this weird theory that the flowers go to the field of the flower princess or something...?" He mumbles, drifting off in a worried daze.
"A-agh, u-um, k-kai-" She was cut off as she started coughing up lavender petals, falling to the floor, curled up like a child. Her body started to shake uncontrollably, jerking and thrashing about as she struggled to breathe between the hacking and spluttering of blood drenched lavender. The smell of the lavender was so strong that it masked the awful scent of the blood and bile, almost like it was trying to hide a murder scene.
Kaito was absolutely terrified as soon as he saw his secret beloved coughing up flowers.
"Oh my god!" He cried out in fear, trying with every ounce of life he had in him to help her, but to no avail. Thorns and flora grew up and up inside his chest. Fire screamed through his chest and ripped at his flesh, devouring his insides. An uneasy darkness enveloped his weak and frail form as the merciless thorny grip of death lured him back, ripping at every last bit of life Kaito had in him. The claws of the devil pulled harder and harder, pulling him away from the girl whom he held to close to his heart. The flowers inside him quickly silenced him, not wanting the boy to make a scene. Without air, he became weak, falling down beside Akemi. Even though all seemed hopeless, he still tried to reach for her, and she reached for him, the two holding onto each other through the barrier of old blood and flora. What once was a beautiful bouquet was now a gruesome sight, piles of mangled petals and flowers grew and grew between the two, purple and blue mixing together in blood.
"K-kaito- I-i n-need to- tell- s-something!!" Akemi cried between the painful hacks.
"I love you!!!" Kaito sobbed, the thorny roses causing him so much pain that he couldn't think.
"I L-love y-you too" Akemi rasped back, their last breaths taken as beautiful bunches of flowers grew out of the sadly dead lovers mouths.

Hanahime stood blissfully in her meadow, looking out among all the perfectly bittersweet flowers that flooded her fields. Some came alone though some came in pairs. The ones that came in pairs were always the saddest ones. Lovers who were just too late to realise their feelings were requited. She sighed softly as she watered the daisies, looking up into the soft pink sky. She felt a jolt in her breath, instantly looking to see where the new arrivals were. She walked over to the new flowers and knelt down besides them, brushing her hands over the soft petals of the blue roses and inhaling the gentle scent of the lavender.
"Hmm~ you two again!" She whispered to the little flowers, watering them a little.
"You'd think after all these life time, you'd finally be together~ Honestly, you two can make me feel a little powerless, even with all the control I have over you two love birds... hmm... I guess I could give you another shot, just one more lifetime couldn't hurt~!" the flower princess mumbles with a blissful smile.

Akemi slowly opened her vibrantly violet eye.
