fake happiness

there used to be a girl,
she was happy and kind-
always a smile on her face
and a clear and strong mind

but one day the thoughts
arrived and came strong
she began to think everything
she did was wrong

she was too fat, too unneeded
too ugly and useless, a waste of space
nothing but smart and nerdy she thought
and never, ever, would be a pretty face

yet she kept it all inside
darkness clouded her heart
but nobody noticed...
because grin she would start

nobody noticed until the day
came when she screamed at the sky
"i can't do this any more, please-
all i want and need is to die."

only then did people take notice
but they still thought it was a phase
she was so ungrateful they said
so they left, without a single trace

so she put back her smile
and they came back quickly
however, unlike before, it
just made her feel sickly.

the sadness remains, but the laugh?
it was a facade; maybe always will be
it was public image, she hid behind it
it was a mask for everyone else to see

and it is still there.

this person could be anyone.

your friends, family and just people around you.

it's me but sometimes the depression and darkness, it leaves.

they could be scared to burden others, scared they will leave them.

but i talk and it helps.

be aware of people around you and you. you don't need to keep it all inside.
