The glow of my computer reflected in my exhausted eyes, I had been working on this damned project for three hours already. Slumping over, I rested my forehead on my arm sighing. Senior year would be a breeze they said, you'll make memories. The only memories to start out the new quarter is being attached to my desk at home, and doing busy work.
My eyes drifted to my alarm clock on my bedside table.
" Ughhh."
My cheek sat on my cool desk as my eyes drifted closed. A nap wouldn't hurt me, plus it was already two in the morning on a Friday. What the hell else am I going to do, I'll finish tomorrow. I stood from my swivel chair at my desk and stretched my stiff limbs. A chill racked my body due to my open window.
I padded over to my window, only to be greeted by the twinkling lights of the galaxy. One of the benefits of living away from the city was that the stars were visible and shining bright.
" Hi mom."
I leaned a bit out the window and gazed longingly towards the dark sky, the north star a beacon for the lost and damned. Sighing I pushed myself up from the window turning towards my bed getting ready to flop down and just immerse myself in a dreamless sleep yet again.
As I changed my shirt a slight sting met back.
"What the hell?"
A small pebble lay on my rug.
"Sage!"
I quickly tossed my shirt back over my head and leaned back out the window, just in time for another pebble to come flying at my face.
"OW! What the hell?!"
I squinted down into the night, only to find a blonde head of hair and a mischievous smile.
"Erik!? What are you trying to do? Stone me to death?"
A laugh floated up from the bushes were my best friend stood.
Erik Bane was... Something else entirely. he was different from most teenage boys. He didn't care about all the damn video games or getting laid. Erik wouldn't let hormones run his life like the rest of us. Erik should have been on an early athletic scholarship, the kid was built like a damn mac truck. Only thing is he was probably the smartest kid in school, so he basically had it all.
"Bubbha am I coming up, or are you coming down?"
"Up, I'm too exhausted from working on Swarovski's analytical paper, and getting hit with rocks."
Erik smiled up sheepishly at me. Such a butt.
I finished putting on my pajamas as Erik hauled himself up our drain pipe. I could hear his clanging and huffing on the way up.
Erik's head peeked over my windowsill, but I was not greeted by his calm grey eyes. Instead his large hand was covering his eyes, and a smirk was placed on his mouth.
"Bubbha you decent?"
I responded by throwing a pillow at his cheshire grin.
" I'll take that as a yes."
He removed his hand from his eyes, and swung the rest of his body into my room.
" I still don't know how you can do that E. It's basically impossible, I sound like a dying whale after I heave myself up the pipe."
I flopped down on my bed and stared at the stick on stars that I haven't removed since the age of six. Dad put them up to warn away monsters, ghouls, and anything that went bump in the night. Except it didn't warn off teenage boys that went bump in the night at my window.
