We drove for only an hour before the truck ran out of gas. We ended in a small town, so I hoped to find a gas station quickly. I hopped out, telling everyone else to stay in the truck, and went off with my new sword and revolver. I walked around and the gas station was only obscured by a single building. I ran to it, picked up a gas can, and filled it. I walked back to the truck, lugging it, and started to fill it. That when I realized that, apart from me, the entire town was silent. Then, I was hit in the back of the head and everything went dark.

When I came to, I saw Aria and Danny, bound by ropes in the corners of the room apart from me. The room was solid stone and triangular, which I found strange for a room at all. The roof was completely angular and obviously needed dusting. Looking around the room, the only possible exit I saw was a square of lines on the roof, but there was no way up. When I looked down again, Danny was already next to me.

"Hey," He whispered when he saw that I saw him. I started to say something then he hushed me. "Don't talk loud, I'd rather not let whoever brought us here know we are conscious yet." I nodded in response, and glanced over at Aria. She was still out cold. "Leave her, she'll come to soon," his hoarse whisper startled my slightly. I heard footsteps, then waved him to his corner, and he went back over, acting unconscious again. I made myself look unconscious, but I was a little slower on the uptake as I should have. He saw me, ran over, then picked me up and threw me to the ground.

I was laying down, looking up at a beard-stubbled face with cold, brown eyes. I was stunned until he slapped me, where I promptly yelled "Why the fuck!"

"Silence you, you, whatever you are!" He yelled in my face.

"Human, motherfucker! That's what I am!"

"You were above ground, you can't be human!"

"Is that why you knocked me out!"

"I just want to live!" He slapped me again as he yelled. I saw tears in his eyes.

Just then, Danny jumped on him from behind and knocked him down. "Nobody slaps Ace but me!"

I stood up, gave him a sideways glance and said, "Not gonna lie, that can be taken like you're super gay."

"I am super gay." He replied calmly.

Just then, Aria had burst out laughing. She had been awake already. I walked over and helped her up, inquiring what she thought to be funny.

"You two are hilarious!" She was still laughing. "Cutest couple I've ever seen!" Danny put his arm around me and had a grin on his face, and I pushed him away from me.

I explained that "He's the only gay one out of us. I'm straight."

She snapped at me, "and I'm not interested!"

I snapped back, "well neither am I."

Then, Danny, always trying to get a good laugh and lessen any tension, yet almost mocking, "you two are the cutest couple I've ever seen!"

We both glared at him. I barely had time to retort before the man was back up, and Danny was on the ground, and his head was bleeding. Just then, as I saw the blood, I remembered one detail.

"Hey, Mister!" I shouted, even though he wasn't even a yard from me, "the parasites can burrow, it isn't safe here. Also, they're attracted to blood, so it really isn't safe here now."
