Chapter 23

Maddie's POV

It's been about a month since Beau had kissed me at my doorstep, a pretty cliché kiss if you'd ask me. Beau and I decided to try and make things work between us as a couple. We've been together since that night and it's been the best month, better than I have had with Luke, I could never compare my relationship with Luke to my relationship with Beau. Luke and I had many things in common and we clicked but he wasn't very honest and that's the complete opposite of Beau, we have no secrets in our relationship. Beau actually cares about me and my feelings.

Tomorrow will be our one month anniversary and we're going to a secret location that Beau claims is fantastic and I bet you it will be. Alice is on her way here because she recently found a boyfriend who lived out in Australia when she was flying back last month. They're supposably serious that she's moving in within the next few months after she gets her job and stuff organized.

I hop into my car at 3:45 AM to head for the airport to pick Alice up and since she doesn't want to bother her boyfriend, she bothers her best friend and makes her wake up super early to pick her up at the airport. I'm a nice friend so I agreed plus I couldn't wait to see her and tell her everything that's happened in the last month or so.

She knew about Beau and I and all that but I couldn't wait to fully explain in person all that has happened and couldn't wait to hear her stories about this boyfriend that I still don't know the name of. This could be fun or end bad. I've been in Australia long enough to know that there are some weird people that you can't trust and some genuinely nice people that smile when you walk by.

I reached the airport at about 4:20 AM and checked my phone and saw a text from Alice and Beau. I unlocked my phone and told Alice I'd be waiting at the entrance and clicked on Beau's message, it said 'Hey babe, how was the drive to the airport? Still don't get why I couldn't drive you there..(: have a good day, see you soon❤️'. I had told Beau that i wanted to get Alice myself because I didn't want to bug him at this time. I replied 'Heyy it was good, waiting for her now and I told you it's because it's way early and you need to rest plus she's my friend it's okay im fine. Have a good day and yeah I'll text u later❤️❤️'.

See I want to say I love him but what if he doesn't say it back or he just leaves me after that because he thinks I'm moving too fast and I have all these thoughts and I have settled my mind and decided to wait until he says is first because I'm a fucking scaredy cat.

"MADDIEEEEEEEE!!!!!"

I heard a screech coming from a familiar voice. I turned around and saw Alice.

"ALICEEEEEE OH MY GOD HI I MISSED YOU"

I screamed and now we were getting weird looks. I jumped on her and hugged her tighter than anything.

"Aw I missed you too!! Now let's go home so we can talk about our boyfriends...?"

"You haven't even told me his name, Alice" I said while getting into my car, shutting the door.

"I'll tell you afterrr, I'm tired" she lazily said and turned to face the window.

"Okay well then we will talk about it after?" U turned to her just to see her eyes were shut and her mouth was slightly parted meaning she was out. At least I could think a bit now. Why won't she tell me his name?

(Next Day)

Maddie's POV

Today was Beau and I's one month and when it was dark we would be going on our mysterious date. Yesterday morning when Alice and I got home we went straight to bed and woke up around 1 PM so we went out for a late lunch and did some shopping for what I'm wearing tonight and then I dropped her off at the train station to go to her un-named boyfriends loft. I decided to forget about him and whatever his name was and focus on anything but their relationship.

It's lunch time and Alice isn't home yet nor has she texted or called for when she wants me to go and pick her up from the train station or even better she will get this boyfriend of hers to drop her off so I can save my gas for more important trips.

My phone vibrated and I prayed it was Alice saying she was coming home with her boyfriend but it was even better, Beau confirming the time we wanted to leave but adding that the later the better because it's always better at night. I texted back talking about how Alice isn't home yet and I would feel much more comfortable knowing she was home when I left. I'm not gonna be a babysitter but I'm also not gonna be the one having to call her parents saying she was found dead and headless at the side of the road though that's the most unlikely thing that could happen.

(6 hours later)

Alice still isn't home and I still haven't gotten ahold of her. Maybe her phone's dead? Maybe she lost her phone on the train? Maybe she left it at home? Who knows but I know that I'm worried sick about her and contemplating if I should report her missing or not. She said she'd be back that night and it's almost 24 hours since that night so don't know what to do next.

I texted Beau saying Alice wasn't home yet and don't know when she will be. He instantly replied saying not to worry she will show. Hopefully he's right. I decided I should just get ready so I headed upstairs to the bathroom.

I stripped from my PJ's and waited for the water to be super hot. After about a minute it was good so I hopped in. I shaved my legs and underarms and washed my hair and body. After about half an hour of being in the steaming water I stepped out and dried my body and put on a big tee shirt and walked back to the mirror. I brushed out my hair, blow dried it and curled it in a time span of 45 minutes. I did my makeup and walked to my closet to get the maroon dress I had bought the day before. It was beautiful and has a perfect fit. I fell in love with it the second i saw it. The sides has a crochet design and so did the back. I slipped it on and zipped up the side and stepped into my 5 inch black heels. Being short had it's perks because you could look fine in heels, not to small and not too tall.

My phone started blaring Ed Sheeran's 'Sing' chorus and I took my heels off and ran to it.

"Hello?" I said into the phone

"Hello, is this Maddie Clark, friend of Alice (forget her last name soz)?" I checked the number and it was the city hospital. Shit.

"Yes, yes it is, what happened?" I said, worried.

"Sorry we couldn't get ahold of her parents so we called you. Alice got into a major car accident with a truck with another man. We need you to come identify the bodies since you're the only person who lives here and could be reached" oh my god.

"Sh-She's-" I couldn't even finish a word.

"I'm sorry for your loss ma'am"

Holy fucking shit no no no.

"I'll b-be ri-right there" I said through my sobs. I can't believe it.

I hopped Into my car and sped to the hospital.

HOLY BALLLLLLLS OMG IM SCREAMING WHY DID I DO THAT I DONT KNOW I WANTED HER TO DIE FOR SOME REASON I WANTED SOMEONE TO DIE SO I KILLED HER OOPS SORRY. I FEEL BAD NOW BUT I STAYE UP TWO HOURS LATER TO WROTR THIS SO YEAH ILY
