Whew, took me while to do this chapter! But it was worth it, for you readers!

My whole body was shivering. I could hardly see anything. The whole forest lay in a deadly quiet shadow. I wasn't able to see Matt as well, but I knew he was there with me. We were practically sitting beside each other, backs against a tree. But even in this position, I wasn't uncomfortable. 1 thing worried me: What if a zombie comes?
A light nudge made me jump, but it was only Matt. He passed me a small notepad, wanting me to read it. This was how we had to communicate, when sleeping in infected territories. Not knowing what lies out there.
Finding the moonlight, I stuck the notepad beneath it and read 'Are you ok?'
Hands trembling, I scribbled down my response: 'Sort of'
I handed it back to him. And a minute later it is passed back to me, saying 'What's wrong?'
I gulped, replying: 'It's so dark. And I'm scared. What if a zombie catches us? We hardly rested like this throughout our travelling.'
He passes it back to me: 'Don't worry we're safe. Besides, you remember what I mentioned earlier: How sanitizer can mask a human's scent? Well, that T-shirt I gave you will hide your scent, since it too, well masks your presence to the infected. '
At that moment, I found myself eyes opened wide with realization; It had sanitizer?
It will protect me from them. They won't be able to smell my presence. The infected cannot trace me now's. Even Remember-
My thoughts were then interrupted: 'Oh, no What about Remember???' I wrote down, passing it roughly back to Matt. This time, it took a while until he replied: '.....Snap haven't thought bout that. Tomorrow we'll worry about it ok? For now, He'll just have to make do with it.
I sighed, writing my last reply: 'Ok.'
Although just before I passed it back, another question popped up in my head. I also added: 'So sorry to for bother you again Matt, but I need to know- does Remember actually still has memories of his past life as a human?'
A long pause was all I could apprehend from Matt's presence. But after a long while, I can hear him begin to jot back a response. As he hands me the letter, I read to myself: 'No, he's a zombie. An infected being, that has lost all human fractions and memories of itself. Due to the R-syndrome, (which affects all zombies) its brain is no longer in function, and all cells in its body are duplicated or dead ones.'
R-syndrome? I restated, before continuing on: 'The R-syndrome is the main cause of the disease, which threatens the living.'
Now where had I heard that name from.
I then replied: 'Oh, I see. But how come Remember can communicate with us? He has feeling as well. How can he act so....human-like?'
A frustrated sigh came from Matt's direction, as he hands me his answer: 'I don't know Rima. That 1 question still bothers me. I'd like to explain more, but it's getting late. We should get some rest, especially you Rima. Chat with you tomorrow?'
This time, I had no need to write back. As I handed back the notepad, I nodded to Matt as in a 'Ok' signal. He too, nods back in return just before turning around.
Shuffling into a much more comfortable position, my eyes were about to close when suddenly Matt pokes me lightly, passing back another note: 'Umm Rima? About Remember...'
'Yes?' I wrote back. In reply, he writes back, 'How do you think of Remember? You're feelings towards him?
I calmly replied: 'Remember is a very faithful friend. He's precious to me.'
