Friday night and as usual everyone was at the Grill , having fun and dancing. It had become a regular thing for summer nights in Mystic Falls and lately she and Kai spent more and more time there with her friends who had surprisingly started warming up to her boyfriend. Or at least didn't hate on him as much which was definitely a progress considering their previous attitude.
"I love slow songs !" said Y/N placing her hands on his chest while Kai's hands found their way on her waist pulling her closer towards him.
"And I love your body this close to mine." he whispered moving his hands a little lower. They had been together for almost a whole year now and still every time he touched her or kissed her or did something like that it drove her completely crazy. It was like the longer they were together the more magnified the feeling became.
Y/N looked up meeting his eyes which were bluer than ever though a bit darker in that moment. A small smile spread across his face and he slowly leaned in towards her , listening to her heart trying to leap out of her chest same as his the closer his lips got to hers. They couldn't take their eyes off each other. It was always like that – the world could be falling apart but as long as they were in each others arms nothing else mattered.
"Hey creeper." interrupted Damon. "Do you want to come and play pool or - "
"I'll go get us drinks." she said pressing her lips against his for a second but as usual their 'second' turned into a whole moment and Kai pulled her closer to him , kissing her as if his life depended on it.
"Kai ? Are you coming or - "
"Coming – " he replied , reluctantly letting go off his girl. His eyes following her through the crowd.
Y/N got to the bar quickly getting the bartender's attention when someone's hands snaked around her waist from behind pulling her closer. She could feel someone's breath on her neck a moment before they rested their chin on her shoulder.
"You couldn't wait 5 seconds huh ?"
"I have been waiting for almost 5 years , darling." said a male voice with an unmistakable accent.
Y/N stumbled a little and turned around. It wasn't possible but there he was , her boyfriend. Well , her ex-boyfriend with the same warm chocolate eyes and that smile capable of melting a snow cone. And a few metres behind him stood Kai looking at them with pure anger burning in his eyes.
"What is it ? Aren't you happy to see me? Don't tell me your friends had compelled away your memories of me after Jeremy staked me with the white oak."
"Um ..." she laughed nervously pushing his hands way noticing her boyfriend making his way towards them. "I clearly had more to drink that I thought cuz you can't be real."
"Everything OK here ?" asked Kai putting his arm around her shoulders with a smile on his face , though Y/N knew better. He might be smiling but on the inside he was burning up.
"Yeah , mate. Just having a reunion with my girlfriend – "
"Y-your girlfriend ?" said Kai a little amused. "Yeah , no. Sorry to break it to you but she ismy girlfriend. Y/N , do you know this person or should I – "
"That's um ... Kol Mikaelson , my um .. my ex , I guess ? He died. I mean Jeremy killed him to get the cure f-for Elena."
Kai glanced at her then at Kol , realising who he was which only made his grip tighten around his girl. There was no way he'd let this guy take Y/N away from him. No. Not after everything he had been through , everything they had been through. No, but he also didn't feel like taking on an original and getting himself killed again either so he decided to play nice at least for the time being.
"I'm Kai. Kai Parker." he smirked , outstretching his hand to shake the original's.
Kol glanced at Kai's hand and refused to shake it. His eyes were fixed on Y/N and only her. He should've known she'd move on with someone else. It had been five years and the real world hadn't stood still but somehow it hurt him seeing someone else wrap his hand around her waist like that. Yet he was happy she had found love again.
"OKAY you two. This is um awkward enough without the death stares." she smiled nervously. "I will be back in 5 minutes and I expect to find both of you alive and the bar without any innocent victims okay?
"Anything my girl wants." smiled Kai pulling her into a deep passionate kiss before letting her go.
"Whatever you say darling." smiled Kol.
