ALISHA

Who could party at the office? Well, we could. Being Human- our NGO- was launching another store in the Middle East and it was a huge achievement for us guys. I wanted to work on the project, but unfortunately couldn’t. But it didn’t stop me from joining them to celebrate for a common cause.

It wasn’t supposed to be the high profile party it was turning out to be. It was meant to be low profile, with just employees and close friends. But now I could see atleast a dozen paparazzi standing outside to click photos and many influential people pouring in. How did this even start?! Whatever it was, I was gonna get the hell out of here. I felt sick, my body hurt like I was run over by ten double Decker buses, and I didn’t want to wake up for practice all tired and grumpy.

“Hey, I’m leaving.” I pulled Arbaaz aside and he looked at me with concern.

“Just don’t feel right, but I’ll be fine. Carry on.” He nodded once and kissed my forehead before escorting me out towards the bodyguards. Mike raised his brow on seeing me leaving; I wasn’t the one to get out from a party so soon.

“Can we go home please?”

“You asked one of your brothers?” he asked as we walked down to get to our car.

“Yeah, Arbaaz, he said it was fine.” I knew they would always ask this. I had to make all my moves after asking someone. Thank Goodness I had the privilege to pee without taking permission atleast.

“Alright then.” He got the keys of our car out, but before I could get in the paparazzi swarmed us. They didn’t have a chance to click my pictures tonight; I had reached way more early than they had. This was their last chance and they knew it. The clicks blinded me, but they were not hostile like the most. So instead of being a bitch, I actually smiled for them.

“Hey Alisha, who’s shoes are you wearing?” one of them asked. My shoes tonight were multicolored, high fashion thing.

“Funny thing is, I have no idea who designed these amazing pair. Tragic, isn’t it?” he guy gave me a shocked look and I resisted to laugh. How many people didn’t know about the custom made, couture shoes? Only me.

“Who’s your favorite brother?” another one asked and I shrugged,

“Depends on the day, my mood and them.”

Ending the little interview there, I got into the car and we drove off towards our home.

“Can we stop at a store, I need water. Desperately.” I asked Mike and he quickly pulled over. Getting a bottle of mineral water, he waited till I chugged down all the chilled water in one go.

“Terrible low?”

“Number wise, but it’s yet to hit mentally. Weird.” I looked out the window and just in a few minutes we were at our house. That was exactly when I felt so low that I had to take slow steps to get out of the car and walk inside. Mike knew something was wrong, but he stayed calm and got me to the couch first.

“Alright, show me your site.” I shook my head. It was a dress and no way was I gonna display my body half naked. He immediately got it and got me something to cover myself. I showed him the site, feeling dizzy now. The exercise, the new drama and the crowd must have taken a toll on my body.

“Alright, it’s not inserted properly. Here.” He inserted the needle and I flinched. I had a hand over my closed eyes, waiting for it to get better. Sometimes it felt like jumping off a cliff was better than dealing with pulmonary fibrosis, but I couldn’t possibly do that to myself and others. Suicide was nothing but an easy escape, an act of coward-ness.
