In a far distant time, in the same grounds that are inhabited by this castle, this castle was once belonged by a noble, on the lands of Bamburgh. This noble was a well respected person at that time because of his position in the religion. He had the view that humans had to possess a pure heart in order to become closer to the deity. He disregarded the lowest classes of society as being impure and not worthy of being alive. He had many followers that believed in his view, however, there were many people that yearned for his position, and were willing to do anything to remove him out of their way. Over time, he was rewarded with large portions of land in that kingdom, for his services and commitments.
This was also a time of Viking invasions that ravaged the town. The noble priest saw the raiders as scum sent from the underworld, he felt that he should do something to end that situation that was tormenting its lands. He felt that he was the only one left with a pure soul in the middle of a land filled with sins. He started becoming more obsessed with the thought of becoming a saint, someone veneered by his pure soul.
With the past of time the noble started to become more corrupt with his ideals. He started to order killings to people whom he deemed not worthy of his religious ideals, and sacrificed people to God. Many were killed under the premise of purifying the land from impure behaviours. As the noble started becoming more entrapped in his visions, his followers became more convinced that he was the chosen to guide them to salvation. It was apparent that it all became a cult formed on the fears of despair and uncertainty. The noble, as he became more obsessed, send his followers to perform more sacrifices on people of lower status in society. He even sacrificed his beloved one by force.
As he yearned to become a saint, he started killing the raiders from the north, the ones that sacked the town and brought chaos into it, he performed all sorts of rituals and punishments on their bodies. He used their blood to perform their prayers, and used parts of their bodies to decorate his chapels.
As he killed more and more raiders by his hand, he started killing the villagers, while he continued his lifestyle as respectable member of the noble society. Nobody suspected of him, until one day, many quartered bodies were discovered in a recondite place of that castle. Everyone who saw those grotesque pictures, became horrified of what was become of that man formed in noble ideals. The people who found the horror became petrified to see such act of brutality. The noble had become a monster in flesh.
The noble was trialled by the society of that kingdom and the Vikings, that threatened to destroy the entire kingdom if the noble was not punished by their hands. To this act, the kingdom had no other choice to hand the noble to the Vikings in order to be executed. A couple of days after the priest was held captive by the raiders, they decided to follow a tradition in which they would stab his back and slid through their ribs and pull their lungs through them after which they would look like fluttering wings. The noble was left there agonising in pain as the Vikings explained him that they would take possession of all of his lands and castles. The priest in its last moments, cursed all of the people that would enter his castle, and that he would ensure that they would be judged by his hand of justice, following this the raiders decided to impale the remnants of that piece of meat that was his functioning body, the priest was hanged in that misty landscape, though his last words were cursing everyone who he deemed impure, entering his castle, and haunting the castle, with his entire body dripping in blood.
As the Viking raiders, proceeded to enter the lands previously owned by the priest, they had a bad feeling, however, they did not follow their instincts and decided to enter the castle, as they started taking everything with value from the castle. However, at that moment a spectre carrying a scythe appeared before them. The raiders, paralysed by fear, were slaughtered by the spectre, by the time they snapped, most of them were killed, the few that were left, decided to fight the spectre, but it didn't matter, as they followed the steps of their partners. As the last person left with a little breath saw through the face of that reaper, he realised that it was the priest's spirit that came to haunt them and carry out what he said, embedded in an aura of darkness and rage. After seeing so much brutality, the noble society of that kingdom was horrified and the ones that suffered the most were the commoners. By seeing disasters happening and people dying because of the cursed lands left by the priest. Everyone decided to leave those haunted lands. The raiders decided to not step foot on the lands, and thus 6 centuries passed, until someone exorcised those lands, in order to free the lands from the evil and darkness brought by that priest, however, that could not be done to the castle and even though the lands were free, the castle wasn't, there was so much darkness in the castle, that the priest trying to exorcise the castle died by the hands of the spectre that embodied all the hate of the corrupt noble. To this day, everyone decided to live their lives, while not entering that cursed territory, in which the castle lied. Countless generations passed, many were the innocents that entered that infamous castle, not knowing the story of the castle. The raiders' descendants no longer dedicated themselves to the acts of their ancestors, in a time were peace reigned, the only piece that connected to those times was the cursed castle, in a modern era where people won't know the tragedies that their land saw.
