The next day, when all the mess from the afternoon before was cleaned up and everyone was a little more calm, Morticia and Gomez sat in their room discussing what to do.
"I think we should take Marie in," Morticia started.
"I think so too. But what about Solomon?" Gomez questioned.
"He'll be back. He's just like my sister. She would've come back too."
There was an awkward silence that filled the room. Marie walked in.
"Am I interrupting?" She asked.
Morticia looked at her husband for a quick second before walking over to her niece.
"Of course not Sweetie," Morticia assured taking Marie in her arms.
Marie jumped startled. "Oh. Well what happened to my dad? Where am I going to stay? Who will take care of me?" She worried out loud.
"Enough questions!" Gomez boomed.
"No! Please don't hurt me!" Marie begged retracting from her uncle.
Gomez backed off. "It's okay Marie. I didn't mean to snap. I'm very shaken up, as I'm sure we all are," Gomez apologized.
Marie nodded her head softly.
"You'll be staying here. With us. As for where he is. I'm not sure," Morticia told Marie.
"I am? You would want me here?" Marie said.
"Why wouldn't we?" Morticia laughed.
"Because. Nobody wants me."
Morticia's face fell. "Anything those people told you. Is not true."
Morticia embraced Marie in her arms. Gomez came over to join the hug.
"I think we need to give you an official Addams makeover," Morticia said with a smile.
Marie raised an eyebrow. "Addams makeover?"
"Yes. Come with me!"
Morticia blotted Marie's face with a white powder to bring out her pale complexion. Then, she lined her eyes with a dark pencil to bring out the signature Addams eye. To finish, she put a blood red lipstick on.
"You look like a mini me!" Morticia exclaimed.
Marie smiled.
"Don't smile. Show your Addams frown!" Morticia said.
Marie bowed her head expressing a glum look on her face.
"You look like Wednesday!" Gomez said walking into the boudoir a glass of wine in hand.
"Yes Uncle Gomez. But I feel awful, and not the good kind," Marie confided.
"You don't have to worry about anything," Gomez assured.
Morticia glanced at Gomez and sighed. Marie nodded her head and walked away, still with the expression of her cousin on her face.
"Gomez, how do we know she has nothing to worry about?" Morticia asked. "We don't know if he'll come back for her or not."
"We need a new plan," Gomez said.
"And? What is our plan?"
"I'm not sure..."
As Marie heard this, her heart dropped. She slid down to the floor and started to cry silently. Gomez appeared around the corner.
"Marie? How much did you hear?" Gomez asked kneeling down next to his niece.
"The whole thing," Marie said.
Gomez took a deep breath and gently grabbed Marie's hand making her flinch. "Sometimes," he said. "We don't always know things . And we don't know how to deal with them."
Marie nodded her head. Gomez patted her head.
