I start walking to the station, feeling totally vulnerable due to the unbearable winter weather but I try to keep myself distracted by looking at the glowing snow that's covering the floor, the decorated shop windows, the kids running around a man dressed as Santa... It's all happiness out here, it's so different from what I'm used to see.
I get to the station without even realising it. I still have to wait half an hour for the train so I sit on a bench right next to the station café. There's a newspaper right next to me, my father has always told me that people like us should not care about what happens outside our social circles, therefore there's no need for us to read the news. I think about it for a second, I'm twenty, I don't have to do what my father pleases so I extend my arm to reach the newspaper, but when I'm about to take it I feel the touch of another hand on mine.
My whole body shivers and my heart starts beating incredibly fast before I decide to look up. I see the face of a young boy. I can tell he is embarrassed by the look on his face. "Oh, I'm sorry." He says. "It's okay, you can take it. I wasn't going to read it anyway." I say with a shaky voice. He grabs the newspaper and starts reading the society section while I analyze him. His hair is brown and pretty long, despite the bandana he's using to hold it up, his eyes are green and even though it was clear he was younger than me, he was taller. Judging by the way he's dressed, I see he's not upper-class. Ripped jeans, a white cotton T-shirt full of wholes and a plaid shirt over it. "Isn't he cold?" i thought to myself.
I suddenly hear the rails, the train is arriving and I remember I have to pick my dad's friend and his daughter up. I stand up and walk towards the train when I hear a voice behind me, "Are you going somewhere?". I turn around and I see the mysterious boy standing there, waiting for an answer. "Erm, no. I have to pick up a friend of my dad." I say. He smiles. "May I ask who?" I can't stop staring at him. "A man called Mr. Calder and her daughter." I say. His smile fades at the speed of light. "Okay, well...Have a nice day" he says in a worried tone. I start walking towards the train again but before I can make one step I hear his voice again. "By the way...", I turn around. "I'm Harry." his smile is back on his face.
I smile back at him and turn around without saying a word.
I get lost into the ocean of people coming out of the train.
"Nice to meet you, Harry."
