"And the second round of lights in three, two... now."
As Frank spoke quietly into his headset, blue lights flooded the stage, mixing in with the white ones already shining on the cats singing onstage.
It was the final preview before their actual opening, and with just a few minutes left in the show, everything was going perfectly.
"Alright, now the pink lights," he whispered, and someone at the light board flipped them on.
From his spot in the wings, he could see Hazel in the middle of the stage - her friend Sherman was beside her. Her brother, Nico, was at the front of the crowd (every cast member was onstage, as they were doing the final number). "Okay, spotlight #3 on Grizabella," Frank whispered. As a light fell onto the gray cat, he added, "Raise the clouds."
At the end of the show, Grizabella disappeared into the rafters of the theatre (in the show, she was being reborn into a new life).
All of the cats still onstage sang as she slowly drifted into the rafters.
"Blackout!" Frank hissed, and all the lights on the stage went out.
Quickly after, they came back on so the cast could bow, and while they did so, Frank told the crew over headset, "Awesome job, everyone. It all went great. We'll go over a few notes before the show tomorrow."

"Hey, Frank," a voice said softly.
"Hazel!" Frank exclaimed, dropping his headset.
He spun around to see her - her hair was up in a messy bun, and she had on leggings and a sweatshirt. Her face was wiped clean of cat makeup.
"Sorry! I didn't mean to scare you."
"Oh, no! You're totally fine," he stammered, stooping to pick it up. "You did great tonight."
Hazel laughed a bit. "Thanks. Did you see when I tripped in Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer?"
"What?" Frank exclaimed. "No! I guess I missed it. Are you okay?"
"Oh, yeah. I was supposed to cartwheel over to Sherman and my feet got hung up on each other and I ended up doing... an awkward slide kind of thing," she laughed. It made Frank smile.
"Oh, my gods, I love your shirt!" Hazel exclaimed, as if she was just noticing it.
Frank instinctively looked down to see what he was wearing. It was a thin gray sweatshirt reading "just your local hug dealer".
He blushed. "Thanks..." he chuckled.
"Hazel! You ready?"
Frank and Hazel both turned to see Calypso, Hazel's friend, poking her head into the storage room.
"Oh, yeah," Hazel said quickly. "I'll see you tomorrow, Frank!"
Quickly, she kissed his cheek and trotted after her friend.
Even though they couldn't see him, he blushed again - Hazel had just kissed his cheek!
