Was happiness a word you would use to describe your childhood? Most people would. Their childhood could be defined as white picket fences and a suburban neighbourhood, or maybe a small apartment in the middle of a big city- but you were always loved, weren't you? That was something you could always be sure of, no matter how many exams you failed, how many sports teams you didn't make - you were still loved despite all your flaws and mistakes. This wasn't the case for one young man's childhood. He didn't know if he was loved, he was unsure of everything- he succeeded in his educational career and seemed to accomplish everything he ever tried to do, but he wasn't loved no matter how many feats he accomplished. Taehyung would define happiness as a night his father didn't hit him, a night no new bruises would be created. That was his happiness, not new awards, of acing exams; that was a given for him. As Taehyung grew up, he learned to defend himself, he learned that there were programs that could help him get out of his situation, but he didn't want it. Taehyung had a soft heart, just like his mother. He could never say no to anyone, and at one point, this would most definitely ruin him.
Taehyung had been saving up for University since he was a child, knowing his father wouldn't support him. Eventually, his effort paid off, when Taehyung graduated high school, he received a scholarship to a prestigious university; this meant that Taehyung was free- all his efforts had paid off. This was the first time Taehyung would experience this unfamiliar feeling. It certainly wouldn't be the last, considering the boy that was about to crash into his life in a blur of drunk nights, tattoos, and danger.
