I was running like hell,not looking back. I was terrified, distraught at the thought that he might find us. My mother was holding my hand and was desperately trying to make me run faster.
Suddenly, I felt her grip loosen until I couldn't feel anything at all. My instinct ordered me to keep going, to not look back but my mother wasn't running by my side anymore.
A strident scream makes me stop. My heart sank when I realised that it belonged to my mom. I turned around, my jaw tightened and took my wand out of my pocket. I raised it ready to kill the one who destroyed my family.
« AVADA KEDAVRA ».
I woke up in the middle of the night, shaky and sweaty. I opened my eyes and looked around. My body relaxed when I saw the familiar decor of my room and my eyes lingered on the photograph laying on my bedside table. This is one of the only family photo that I own, we looked happy and unified which is far from real. I was angry with my father since he has always made wrong choices and has always been selfish, sacrificing his own family to accomplish his « duty ». My father died two years ago and my mother decided that I should go to Hogwarts to leave the hostility of Durmstrang.
My mother is an incredibly brave woman who always refused to believe in the ideas of my dad and divorced him when I was 9. Leaving Durmstrang meant to my mum that I give up on dark magic taught at school and have friends. Indeed, the sixth previous years at the Scandinavian school, I've had none because I didn't have the same values and beliefs as them and haven't been attracted to follow the Dark Lord.
My name is Lesya Karkaroff and tomorrow I'll start my seventh year at Hogwarts.
