She was being late. Three hours to be exact. We were supposed to study together. I was really getting impatient. So, I drove all the way to her home, where her mom told me that she just left. Maybe she forgot about our little arrangement. In that case, there is only one place she can be at this hour....
I drove all the way to the other side of town to the local Starbucks, which is where she likes her coffee. I went inside but she was nowhere to be seen. The cashier, Amy, was a friend of mine. I asked her if she saw her. Amy became nervous and somewhat started sweating.
"What's wrong? You okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. She came here couple of hours ago. It's just that....Jeb came in and asked about her a couple moments ago."
Like a tidal wave, worry washed in my mind. That guy, Jeb!!! Ugh!! He is her ex. They broke up a few months ago, which was the time I was there to console her. And a couple weeks later we started dating.
Hello, I'm Toby. I live in Grace Town, a small town between Virginia and Florida. This is a story about my girlfriend, Chloe. How I lost my girlfriend for another man. Let's get back to walk down the memory lane.
I was really worried about her. Jeb is an abnormal ex. He is a tall, muscular figure and he plays in the school Rugby team. We got into a lot of fights. Mostly, for Chloe. You see, how he was obsessed with her. But after their breakup she wouldn't even talk with him and that made the situation even worst. Now he hates me with every ounce of his being.
So, yeah, of course I'm bloody worried. I looked everywhere for her. Her friend's house, her friend's friend's house.....nothing!,, She's nowhere. She disappeared like a ghost.
I live on 54th street. I was about to take turn into my neighbourhood when I saw Fork GT, the specific model owned by Jeb. He was in the car. For a fraction of second we looked at each other. He smirked. It was not uncommon for him to use this street cause it lied between busy streets of the town. So it didn't raise any eyebrows.
I parked in front of the lawn and went to the front door. It was open. I realized I must've left it open in a hurry. The house was engulfed in darkness. I tried to turn the lights on but the electricity was out. I went down the hall to my room. As I entered, I stepped on something. I picked it up and it felt like a candle or a stick, which was not unusual. My room is always a mess. In the next step I took, I heard a small 'splash', like stepping into a puddle of water. I followed the water to the bathroom as my eyes landed on the pitch darkness, somewhat. And then, as if on cue, the light flickered on itself........ and i saw her lying on the floor, lifeless. The puddle of water wasn't water... but her blood. And the 'stick' I was holding was a kitchen knife covered in blood. I became speechless. I kneed beside her head, sobbing uncontrollably. Who could've done this? The answer seemed like floating in the air, clearly. JEB !!
I heard distant siren and the next thing I knew, I was pinned to the ground by a cop reading me by Miranda rights.....
