"Oh, this is gonna be good," I mused proudly as I hid behind a bush.

"Come on, Ari! They just recently transferred here and you are all up in their business." My best friend, Samantha, complained.

I shushed her, holding my camera firmly in my hands, "Keep your voice down, Sam! There is something fishy about them."

She raised her hands and slapped them at her sides, "You say that for everyone who is new! Why are we even at their house, in the middle of the night, holding a camera, with a crazed best friend stalking them? Or better yet, why am I even here?"

I turned to glare at her, "This time, I feel I'm right. Isn't it suspicious how they just transferred to our school, in the middle of the semester and already having that much popularity? Also, you're here because you want juicy stories."

She groaned, "Give it a rest, Ari. This could very well be illegal and if we get caught, were going to jail."

I sighed, "That's not going to happen. Besides, you know I need this."

I took my camera and zoomed into the dimly lit room. Someone was in there but my camera wasn't focusing much on it. Also the person closed his or her window, I could only see shadows.

"Its no use! I'm tired, Ari and I don't want to leave you out here by yourself. Lets just go home, we're being creepy and you know it too."

I didn't listen to her. I needed to get what I could from them and she knows all too well why I'm doing this.

"You can head back home. I'm staying here until I can find something I'm satisfied with." I said without looking at her.

"And what exactly do you want to find?" A deep baritone voice asked.

I snorted, "Sam, I never knew you'd go this far by imitating a guys voice. But you've improved, that I can say. It doesn't fool me still."

"Uh Ari, t-that wasn't me." She stuttered.

I smiled and looked back at Sam, only to find a shadow, arms crossed and looking straight at us. My smile faltered.

"Shit!" I cursed and immediately got out of my hiding spot, Sam followed, taking cover behind me.

"I told you, Ari! But you never listen." Sam whisper-yelled.

"The mission has been compromised, Sam. Abort mission! I repeat, abort mission!" I whispered urgently.

"What the hell are you two doing hiding behind the bush at our house?!" His voice was laced with irritation.

This is bad. Like really bad. In all my years of doing this, I had never been caught. I escape unscathed but they finally caught on to me. Good thing it was night, he wouldn't have seen me or Sam's features.

I whispered back to Sam, "Sam, make a run for it on my count."

"What?!" She hissed, "I'm not leaving you behind!"

"This isn't the time to play the good best friend. Don't worry about me, I'm going to be okay. I got you into this mess and I'm going to get you out of it. If anyone is getting caught, it would be me."

"Ari-" She started.

"There is no time! Go in three, two-"

She didn't allow me to complete counting and immediately made a dash out of the compound and she was actually fast, which surprised me because Sam never ran fast.

I guess when in a life and death situation, everything changes.

The guy tsked, bringing my attention back to him, "Your friend abandoned you. What are you going to do now?" He asked and I could feel one of his eyebrows raised, a smug look playing on his feature.

I smirked, "I wouldn't use the word 'abandoned' per say but if you'd just let me go freely, no one would ever know of this strange encounter."

The guy snorted, moving out of the dark and into the light. Obviously, he was hot. With black hair that shimmered under the moonlight and deep cold blue eyes that narrowed its gaze on me.

"Like I'd ever do that. The only way you're leaving here is if you tell me why you're at my house. Or I could just call the cops on you. Your choice." He proposed.

"Woah! Lets not take it too far there, buddy." I laughed nervously, beads of sweat forming on my forehead. I had to think of something fast. I don't plan on going to jail at such a young age. My parents would kill me.

"I'm an artist!" I blurted out, "I was inspired by the beauty of your house and luckily, I had a camera on me. So I decided to take a picture and head back home until you showed up."

He raised an eyebrow, "You don't expect me to believe that, right?"

I have to be more convincing, "Its true! Why else would I be at your house?"

He crossed his arms, "What of your friend, huh? Why did she run if you guys weren't guilty?"

I racked my brain for something, "Um.....it was getting late and her parents were worried sick."

"And you? Aren't your parents worried 'sick'?" He air quoted the word.

I laughed nervously, "They are on a business trip and I told them I was already in bed, which isn't entirely a lie because I was going to bed."

He narrowed his eyes into slits, making me shift from foot to foot, uncomfortably.

After about a minute of awkward silence, he sighed, "I'm the crazy one for believing your story but I don't just have the strength to deal with this so I'll let you go just this once. Just so you know, I can clearly see your face so if I see you around here again, I wont think twice about calling the cops."

I smiled in relief, "Roger that. I'll be going now."

I walked backwards still seeing his eyes on me and then immediately turned forward and made a run for it.

Before I got out of hearing point, I heard him mutter,"Stupid neighborhood."

That was close. Good thing I was a pro at lying which shouldn't be something to be proud of. I recalled his last words and stopped dead in my tracks.

He saw me, which means he didn't recognize me from school, which also means I have to be more careful from now on.

So much for spy lessons. My cover was blown.
