the sun shined through the sky light like sunflowers in a field. the air was filled with warmth and calmness. the morning was bright and had orange undertones knitted into it. the sky looked like a messy painting filled with mixes of blues, yellows, and gamboge.

y/n slowly awoke, her eyes fluttering in and out of reality. when she finally got her eyes to adjust, she sat up. then, her train of thought came in. she realized what day it was. the 23rd ... finns birthday.
she looked over to her side, and say finn peacefully sleeping. she smiled to herself, admiring his features. the way his freckles colonized his cheeks. how his curly hair lay lazily on his face. the way his jawline seemed to clench and then release every time he took a breathe.

she climbed over him, and sat on him. he woke, but didn't open his eyes. instead, readjusted himself, so he could be more comfortable. she then started to counted his freckles one by one aloud. he sleepily smiled at her actions. he then started to open his eyes.
"good morning" he willowed, in a raspy voice.
"morning !" y/n was more energized now, "today is gonna be the best day in youre entire life !"
"why ? what's today ?" he furrowed his eyebrows.
"do you really not know ?" y/n's expression changed.
finn shook his head.
"it your birthday dummy" she rolled off of him.
"oh yeah"

the whole family sat at the dining table, as finns mother served breakfast.
the smell of the food filled the house softly drifting in and out of the hallways.
"happy birthday finn" nick messed up finna hair, as he got up to get some water from the counter, then sat back down.
"yes, happy birthday" his mother plastered plates of food on the table, as she pressed her lips on the top of his head.
"happy birthday" his father smiled at him, patting him on the shoulder.
"thank you"

when breakfast was done, everyone had left to get ready.
y/n sat on finn's bed. they had agreed that they would just stay home. she dressed comfortably, as was the rest of the family.
a sweater, leggings, and thigh high socks.

when they were all finished, they met in the living room, and told finn that they could do anything he wanted.
"can we go to sleep ? cause i'm tired" he chuckled, rubbing his eye.
"finn, it's your birthday !" chirped his mother.
"i know, but i'm tired, can't we just celebrate tonight ?" he suggested.
"oh fine. we'll celebrate tonight." his mother sighed.

finn and y/n were having an intense staring competition. they had been going at it for about 3 minuets now. both of their eyes were as watery. finally, finn blinked.
"YES ! I WIN !" y/n shouted in victory.
"oh shut up" finn pouted.
y/n smiled. she looked like a child. but nonetheless a happy child. her laugh echoed through the room, bouncing off the walls, and filling the air with felicity.

finn sat in front of y/n, arms crossed, and bottom lip out. his eyes were stern, yet playful. y/n unraveled his hands, and played with them. then, noticing that he wasn't budging, she started peppering his face with kisses, and finally, he started the laugh and smile.

that was their relationship. laughs, smiles, and endless love. and that was that. their relationship didn't need anything else. they were happy. and yes, they may have had some ups and downs, but in the end, they stayed together. that was what mattered.

as they would grow older, they would learn the importance of admiration. they would grow to understand that indifferences are no reason to tear two apart.

they were fair.
