I had just started seventh grade. I turned 13 right before the first day, which was cool. I had a boyfriend named Jacob. We just started dating, and we weren't very open about our relationship. I was very popular, so it wasn't very long before everyone knew we were together.

After Jacob and I were dating for about five months, I started to have a feeling I've never had before. So, in my science class there is a girl named Claire. She is really cute, and all the guys wanted her. I've never paid much attention to her, until about three months after me and Jacob started dating.

It was weird. I would catch myself looking at her, like a creep. I would also start to want to listen to everything she said. I had no idea what was going on, so I went to talk to my best friend, Grace.
"OMG, you have a crush on a girl!" Grace claimed.
"No, I don't. I have never, and will never. I'm not gay!" I responded.
"You might be, cause this is what it sounds like."
"Just stop. You're no help right now," I said, annoyed.
"Oh, well fine. Good luck with finding someone who can help you," Grace responded, rude.

So, that didn't work. Next, I went to Jacob.
"Jacob, I need your help with something." I explained everything that was happening.
"Oh. This does sound like you have a crush on her, but there is no way a girl can have a crush on another girl. If there is, I can't help you. I think it's a phase, and it will go away eventually. I'm positive," Jacob said, certain.

Well, it didn't go away. For the next few months the same thing kept happening. I asked my mom if I could see a counselor or therapist. I didn't say it was because of Claire. I said something else, that was completely unbelievable. She said no, until one day.

Eventually, she said, "Fine, Zoey. I'll make an appointment for you to see a therapist on Sunday."
"Thank you," I responded.
"You're welcome. I just don't want to be wasting my money."
"Promise you wouldn't be," I responded, very happy.

My first experience with the therapist went pretty well. Her name was Molly, and she gave a ton of suggestions for things that should help. One was that every time I was around Claire or started thinking about her, squeeze a stress ball and think of something else. It worked for a little while. Another was to listen to calling music, and it will distract me. This one seemed to work better.

My mom had to talk to my teachers about it. My teachers didn't approve at first, but they eventually did. My mom still doesn't know the real reason why I'm seeing Molly, and I'm happy. I don't even know how this is all happening, but I'm glad it is.

I saw Molly for about two more months before she didn't do anything anymore. I really didn't want to stop seeing her. Molly was really nice. But it was what I had to do.
