Izuku Pov:
I stood in the waiting room with the rest of the students. The air was lively all around but between Kacchan and I, it was tense and awkward. What had happened yesterday? Why was he acting so on edge?
I clenched my fist.
We can't keep going on like this. Up and down. Around and around. Kissing and laughing one minute and on edge the next. I have to tell him.
Just then, before we were going to make our entrance into the stadium crowded with cheering fans and judging eyes, Todoroki approached me with a challenge.
I felt the class fall silent as a grave as he confronted me. His blue eye glowing in the non-existent darkness.
"Midoriya. Personally, I believe that we are evenly matched. We both have the physical abilities, intelligence and quirks to win this, but you have All Might in your corner."
My attention perks up. Has he figured it out?
"But despite that, know that I will surpass you. Consider this a declaration of war. I will defeat you."
I smile. Another challenge huh. A good way to get my mind of Kacchan.
"Sure. I'll accept Todoroki. But know that I'm also aiming for the top spot. If you're gonna try and tear down my walls..."
I stared into his dual-colored eyes. Challenging him. Egging him to come at me.
"I guarantee you'll get bruised."
Todoroki said nothing. Simply nodded and walked out, leading us onto the field as Present Mic blared our introduction through the speakers. I looked up to the commentary box. Accompanying Present Mic were Aiyumi-chan and Aizawa sensei, both with expressions on their faces saying 'how did I get myself talked into this?'.
Once all classes were on the field. Midnight-sensei came up in her R-rated costume, along with comments about how her costume was inappropriate for a high school event. Once on the stage , she asked for Kacchan to come on to the stage. It was supposed to be me up there, but the press was already suspicious about my disappearance after the villains attacked USJ and the teachers decided it would be best if I wasn't seen as the top student because it could breed conspicuous theories among the public.
Each step he took was filled with confidence and superiority, that was, until he stopped in front of me, I could have sworn he almost tripped over his own shoes.
I could hear the hateful muttering radiating off the other classes in waves as the members of class 1-A waited worrying and in anticipation at what Kacchan would say.
He stood above us all, mic close to his lips and hands in his pockets.
"I just wanna say..."
Everyone, including the audience and heroes, held their breath.
"I'm gonna win."
I could practically feel the class silently scream the words 'I knew he'd say something like that!' as the crowd around us began to boo. Iida-kun began to move his hands in a panicked frenzy as he scolded Kacchan for such arrogant behavior as a representative of our class.
He shrugs his shoulders and put his thumb down at us.
"It's not my fault you're all just stepping stones to my victory."
Somehow, in some odd way, that made my swoon.
A love-struck sounding sigh must have past my lips because countless heads whipped around to me with astounded stares. Wide eyes and open jaws like gaping fish gawked at my now heat-flushed face.
