"May we come in?" James asks me. His head tilted to one side.
I realize that I've been standing there like a complete idiot for quite some time. What do you expect? A guy I met at the park, a guy who literally caught me comes knocking at my door and says we're neighbors and you think I would be cool about. Did I mention how cute he is?
"Oh yeah, sure." I mumble.
I move out of the way so that he could enter. It is only then that I realize that there are two more people behind him. Probably his parents.
I close the door behind Mr. Reid and stand there awkwardly, not sure what to do. It's a good thing my mom comes to the rescue.
"Hi!" She tells them "I'm so glad you guys could make it."
She gives me an odd look. She must have noticed that I'm nervous. I'm not normally nervous around new people. In fact, I am pretty bubbly and talkative.
Mrs. Reid smiles. "Thank you for inviting us." She says while air kissing my mom. "What a lovely home." She adds.
My dad has appeared beside my mom and is now shaking Mr. Reid's hand. They start talking about the latest soccer game they saw on TV. I think they hit it off pretty well.
My parents lead Mr and Mrs Reid to the dining room, leaving me alone with James.
I haven't moved from my spot by the door and I'm not really sure what to do now. I'm just standing there awkwardly staring at the floor when I hear James say something.
"Huh?" I look at him stupidly.
He laughs. What? Why did he laugh?
"What? Is there something on my face?" I ask self consciously.
"Nope." He says. " I was asking you if we're just gonna stand here or go to the dining room."
Oh right. Why am I being such an idiot? Sera, get a hold of yourself! He's just a guy. I mentally chastised myself. Yeah, a really cute guy.
"Oh yeah, right." I lead the way to the dining room with him following behind me.
