Sick . Again. Artemis sneezed as Wally kicked his feet on the couch.
Oh yeah, he was sick too.
Let's explain, the team went on a mission in the tundra, no big deal, they'd done it many, many times before. They split up, Teams of two. Then it went haywire. Wally and Artemis accidentally stumbled soon the warehouse in the middle of no where, which happened to be the chemical plant thy were looking for. Took down a few crooks, saved the day.
Until when they called for pick up and it took three hours. They'd tried to stay warm in the warehouse, but the only cold it protected them from was the wind.
They both ended up getting a serious cold.
And fever.
And stomach virus.
Despite Wally's speed and fast healing.
M'gann felt extremely bad for leaving them like that, especially because it was her fault that they took the long way around the tundra. She didn't mean too, she just couldn't figure things out with the storm ruining her coordination.
She cooked them literally everything in the kitchen, knowing Artemis would probably pick at it, and Wally would be the one to devour it all.
But he didn't.
She knew something was up when Wally muttered a not hungry. She didn't care how hard she'd worked on the food, something was up.
She quickly wrapped it all up and put it in Tupperware so she could store it in the fridge for later, not wanting to waste all of the food.
Then she walked over to the two on the couch. Artemis was curled so far into the couch, the only thing showing she was actually there was a tiny bit of blonde hair from the messy bun it was contained in. The blanket covered over every inch of her body, still didn't seem to warm her up.
Wally was taking up literally any of the room on the couch that Artemis didn't take up. He lay sideways, using his arm as a pillow. His body up to his shoulders were covered in a thick red blanket.
That blanket was Barry's, she remembered. When Aqualad, Rocket, Zatanna and Superboy debriefed the team, Megan and Robin had stayed behind to help Wally and Artemis.
They'd taken them each to their rooms, which none of them actually stayed in, and gotten them a change of clothes they always kept at the cave in case of times like these. Once they were changed they made sure they both were on the couch and comforted to as much possible with the little things they'd had at the cave.
When Barry and GA had heard about it from Batman after debriefing, and heard that there were no blankets or pillows at the cave, they'd each brought em something from home.
Green Arrow had brought over a blanket that Paula had said was Artemis since she was a kid, and some tea from her mother in a thermos. The old lady didn't seem to care her daughter was at the cave, only that she was being taken care of.
Barry had brought that big red thick blanket for Wally, and said that he always used it when he came over. Wally seemed too feverish to even curl up in it or anything, unlike Artemis who's curled up into an extremely small ball.
While Wally seemed too hot, Artemis seemed too cold.
Artemis burst into a coughing fit in her sleep, and Wally whimpered and took a deep breath. Megan frowned, this was probably the most sick she'd ever seen a human before. She inlet beside Wally. He was taking deep, loud breaths. His face was sweltering, and he had his brows furrowed together and lips in a tight frown.
The thing that made her smile though was the fact that his head was resting against Artemis torso. "Wally?" She whispered.
He moaned and stirred. "Megalicious?" He said hoarsely.
"Wally, I think your temperatures getting way too high." She said, concerned.
"Nah..." he murmured, curling into the couch.
"Wally, you could overheat."
"But I'm too cold." He said, never actually opening his eyes.
She frowned in confusion. He had a really bad fever. She quickly flew to the bathroom and took out a thermometer.
She found him somehow behind Artemis now, fast asleep and holding onto her. She really didn't want to wake him up right now, he looked so peaceful, despite his warm state. Megan pressed a hand against Artemis skin. She recoiled at how cold it was, ice to the touch almost. Megan quickly took both their temperatures, and frowned. While Wally was at a striking 104, and Artemis was a plummeting 94. She probably had hypothermia.
She seemed to be having a nightmare, and Wally shushed her unconsciously, wrapping his arms around her. Megan decided to leave them there for a bit, covering them both in the red blanket.
She went back to her work in the kitchen, and started cleaning up. Robin entered, and quickly stole a swipe at the pudding before she put it in the freezer. "How's the redhead and the blonde?" He asked.
"I'm not sure? Mind checking their temperature for me?" She asked, putting a plastic wrapped bowl of spaghetti in the fridge.
"Sure." He grabbed the thermometer and jumped over the couch to the two.
Artemis was curled into Wally, and Wally was like an outer heater to Artemis. He shook his head and checked both of their temps, making sure not to wake them up. "Ummm....Wally's a 102, And Artemis is a 96. What was it before?"
Megan put the bowl down and stared in confusion. "104 and 94, but I didn't do anything? How is it getting better?" She asked.
Robin looked confused too. "Wait, what if Wally's warming Artemis up, and Artemis is cooling him down?" He smiled.
"Is that possible?"
"It seems to be." He shrugged.
Of course, he thought. Fire and Ice.
