Yoongi

The rest of the Interviews went fairly well.

Mikyong captured everyone's hearts with her eyes of embers and hair of flame. She boasted how her big brother, the "bestest big brother in the world," would take care of her during the Hunger Games.

If only she knew the truth.

I couldn't bring myself to tell her that I was practically abandoning her in leaving her with the Careers. I thought about it long and hard, and it was the safest way for her, especially so since I was target of many. The Careers would keep her safe.

Jimin would keep her safe.

My Interview was as Dongmin ordered. I put on the little sexy act just as he wanted, and it worked surprisingly well. Not only was my popularity up from Jimin clearing my name, but from that as well.

"It seems your name is on everyone's tongue tonight, Min Yoongi. Any thoughts?" The Host had asked, drained from the eventful night.

"I'm glad that everyone knows now that I'm not such a bad guy." I'd said, leaning back in my chair and narrowing my eyes at the audience. "I don't bite."

I even threw in a few subtle winks that had people grabbing at their chests. When I was finished the crowd cheered, and a white lacy bra found it's way at my feet. While I was leaving I heard the Host mutter something about insufficient pay.

But that was behind me now. I was busy looking for Jimin so I could talk to him. There was only one place I hadn't looked: the rooftop garden. It's because I was almost positive he would be there, but I was nervous.

"What a show we had tonight, hm?"

I turned in surprise at the voice that sounded behind me, and it was none other than Bohee, still in her Interview dress as if she were still waiting for her turn to go up. Everyone else had long changed since then and most were sleeping soundly, including Mikyong.

"What a show." I agreed challengingly. "It's amazing what dark secrets can come to light on camera."

"Don't be so smug." Bohee was smiling maliciously as if she had some sort of ulterior motive.

"I should say the same to you. You've lost all of your popularity. Your friends. Your reputation. Even your whole District knows you're garbage. If I were in your situation I sure as hell wouldn't be smiling." I retorted.

Bohee's smile vanished, replaced by a scowl. "I wasn't lying when I said I'd kill you, Min Yoongi." She growled.

"We'll see." I shrugged, a dark grin forming on my lips. "The Hunger Games are tomorrow. My advice to you: hide behind the Careers. It's the only way you'll survive."

"Why you-" Bohee snarled. She lifted her arm as if to hit me.

"It's over, Bohee."

Bohee spun around, her face crumpling into mushy apology. "J-Jimin!" She cried in a shrill voice, becoming twitchy and fidgety. "I-I'm sorry about what happened, it was a mistake, really!"

Jimin shook his head. "No Bohee. It's over. I know who you really are now. Everyone does. There's no going back. No apologizing."

Bohee stood in silence. A tear silently made it's way down her face. Then another. "Jimin." She said pleadingly, reaching out.

"No. No more."

Broken, she wrapped her arms around herself and hurried down the hall to her room, slamming it. The whole building must've trembled under her wrath. I let out a breath of relief. All the stress that girl caused me was going to give me some premature grays, I was sure of it.

"So it's tomorrow. Yoongi."

Jimin was facing me now, his face serious.

"Of course. You got a plan?" I asked casually. Jimin shrugged nonchalantly.

"Just do as the Career leader says, I guess." He said. "He has some sort of plan. But hey, listen."

Jimin's eyebrows knit together and his eyes wandered to the floor. "Namjoon said that if you change your mind... he'll still let you become a Career." He mumbled, glancing at me hopefully. I let out a sigh.

"Maybe I didn't make myself clear before." I began and Jimin's face fell. "I'm not interested in being a Career. Those Tributes are tricky people. They'll betray you faster than you can say 'backstabber.'"

"Well then won't you bring me with you?" He piped up, full of hope.

"Have you lost your mind?" I scolded. "There's a reason I'm going solo. Practically every Tribute sees me as a threat. That's exactly why I'm leaving Mikyong with you, haven't you heard?"

"Yes... Namjoon told me." Jimin assured me. "I'll keep Mikyong safe, I promise. It's the least I can do to repay you."

"Repay me for what? If anyone's indebted it's me." I felt myself smile.

"For being a friend." Jimin said simply. "I don't know where I would be right now if I hadn't gotten to know you, Yoongi. I used to hear stories that you were this heartless person who's only goal was to win the Hunger Games. But you're different."

I rolled my eyes. "You're speaking nonsense." I scolded, but his confession had pleasantly surprised me.

"Maybe so." Jimin laughed, breaking into a joyful smile. "Rest well tonight, Yoongi, we have a big day tomorrow."

"You too." I said, and with that he headed off towards his room. I stood alone in the silent hall for a few moments.

The Hunger Games were tomorrow. I could imagine the madness that would ensue as people dashed to the Cornucopia, desperate for weapons to protect themselves. The warm, sticky blood of the unfortunate. The feeling of not being able to focus but having to, of not being able to breathe but having to, of not being able to run any longer but having to, to save your own life.

I felt sick to my stomach.

This was going to be hell.
