Emerson's POV

I groaned as I fumbled for the ringing phone on the bedside table.

"Shut up, shut up, shut up" I groaned.

My hand came into contact with the familiar feeling of my phone and without checking the caller ID I pressed the 'talk' button.

"Yes?" I said rather rudely.

"Your shift started at ten! Your fifteen minutes late! I suggest you hurry up unless you want to lose your job" my boss, Jacob, warned.

Fifteen minutes?

"Ugh. Can't I just take this one day off? I'm tired" I groaned.

"This one day? One day?! You didn't show up yesterday either!" He screeched down the line.

I didn't? Fuck.

"Okay, okay! Whatever! Just stop yelling! I just woke up!" I said tiredly, sitting up and rubbing my eyes.

"This is the last time, Emerson" he warned again.

"Yeah, yeah. I'll be there in twenty" I said and flopped back onto the bed.

Check the caller ID next time, stupid.

The comfort of my bed was threatening to drag me in as my eyes began to shut again.

Despite it being twenty past ten in the morning I was still as tired as fuck and the phone call did absolutely nothing to wake me up.

Don't get me wrong I do enjoy my job, it's just ten in fucking morning.

Although I suppose I do need to keep it, whether I liked it or not the extra cash would count.

I rolled over, propped myself on my elbows and got up.

I grabbed a towel from the cupboard and went into the bathroom.

After undressing and hanging my towel on the rack walked straight past the mirror without looking at it.

I probably look horrible. As always.

The shower consisted of me washing my hair and standing under the warm spray with my head down.

Wrapping the towel around my body I walked toward my closet that had a selection of black skinny jeans, black hoodies and clothes I once wore.

I grabbed a pair of skinny jeans and a plain black jumper.

My hair was just pulled back into a loose pony tail as always.

Sometimes I would walk in the street and I would get stares at my hair.

Ugly was an understatement.

There wasn't much I could do on my own to the long, thin, flat hair.

I left my room how it was and before grabbing my shoes I took an apple and bit into it.

50 calories.

I couldn't let the calories get too far.

I slipped on and laced my floral print Dr. Martens loosely to my feet and headed out the door.

It was only a five minute walk down the street to my apartment so I walked past my car and hit the side walk.

Having a small apartment close to work is always good.

London is always good.

During the day.

At night it was as if the air had completely changed, the warm breeze and summer air would turn to cold winds and a silence waiting to be broken.
