Hello lovelies! This is my first story on wattpad and I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read! I hope you enjoy! Feedback is appreciated, I'd like to know if I should continue with the story or not. I will post the first 3 or 4 chapters before deciding if I should continue. It starts off slow but I promise it'll get interesting! I apologize in advance for any mistakes.

Love, Nayeli.

Chapter 1:

I fucking hate airports.

Huffing loudly, I set my bags on the floor next to a row of chairs and plop into one of them. I feel like I've been walking forever around this damn airport and I still can't find my mother. I'm exhausted, my feet ache and she's not here on time. Still hasn't changed.

Looking around, I notice I'm one of few people in this small airport. Although it's not the most modernized place, it's nice nonetheless. The smell of coffee overtook my senses as I glanced around. A small cafeteria on the far left corner, seats lined up around the middle taking up a majority of the space. Mmm, I want this chair, I think as I pull my feet up, hug my legs to my chest and close my eyes.

"Mommy, mommy!" I turn my head slightly without opening my eyes,

"Hmm?"

"When is grandma going to come? I'm hungry!" she whines.

I sigh as I open my eyes and look into the glittering green/yellow eyes of my 5 year old daughter, Anabelle.

"I don't know, sweetheart, but I'll give her a call right now, alright? Sit down for me," I say as I set her down on one of the chairs next to mine.

I give her one more glance as she starts swinging her legs, clearly enjoying the spacious chair. Her dark brown curls frame her face and enhance the light skin she inherited from me. Small hands grip the sides of the chair as her little body sways back and fourth lightly. Thin lips pulled into a small pout and eyelids slightly droopy. My princess.

Quickly typing in my parents' house number, I hold the phone to my ear and my heart beats a bit faster with every ring. C'mon...

"Bueno?" my mothers loud voice comes through the speaker.

A breath I didn't realize I was holding comes out. "Mom, you were supposed to be here half an hour ago," I joke.

"I've been here, mija! Come out to the front."

"Umm..." I hesitate. "I don't really know where that is so..."

"Ay, you haven't changed!" she laughs. "Let me go get you then."

I suddenly hear a beeping letting me know the call is over. Rude.

"Mommy, are there kids at abuelita's house?" Bell says with excitement.

"Yeah, baby, you have a lot of cousins! There will be many kids you can play with," I share with a small smile. I haven't seen my siblings or cousins since I left and I was kind of hoping I'd have more time, but now, I really have no choice but to confront all of them. I never sent a letter, a text, my parents were the only ones who kept in contact with me and occasionally flew out to see us. I inwardly groan as many scenarios once I get to my parent's play out in my mind.

"Belinda!" I turn around in my chair to see my frantic mother waving both hands at me, smiling widely, from the front entrance.

My mother is what you would call... odd. She's a 42 year old Latina with a small, pudgy body that makes her the most huggable person. Her attitude changes faster than you can blink; she'll coo at you then yell at you to take out the trash all in the same moment. That's what made life with her always interesting. Light brown skin, hazel colored eyes and brunette hair to match, I'd say my mom is very beautiful. Her happy attitude sticks to you after a while.

"Hey, mom," I say with a smile. She runs to me with open arms while my 5 year old looks at her with wide eyes. I shrug my shoulders slightly with a 'I don't know' look.

"Mija, I missed you so much!" she gushes then suddenly pulls back with a scowl, "Why didn't you call me more often! Don't I have the right to talk to my own daughter?! You should have called as soon as you arrived!" she demands.

Rolling my eyes, "I was kind of expecting you to be here," I glance at Bell. She was entertained with the Tinker Bell artwork on her shirt.

"Mhm. Ok," she clips. "Hola, preciosa." She crouches down next to Annabelle and takes her hand lightly.

"Hi, grandma," she replies shyly behind one hand on her mouth.

"Oh mija, your eyes are so beautiful," she whispers, as if in a daze.

"Alright then, let's get this show on the road, eh!" taking my daughter's hand with a smile, she leads the way to her car.

See what I mean about odd?

I follow slowly, picking up my bags on the way and back to where it all started.

"Set your bags in your old room upstairs, I cleaned it out for you," my mom says as I climb the front steps.

"Alright, ma." Stepping in, I immediately notice the changes to my childhood home. Old brown carpet was replaced with marble tiles, a fireplace was inserted next to the stairs, and pictures were rearranged throughout the living room.

My parents never had much money while I was growing up. Working in the fields and supporting 6 children didn't help much either. Being the third youngest, I was always cared for by my older siblings. Monica, the oldest, Ben, the second, Noah, third, me, then a set of twins at the end, Analisa and Rosa. The lack of money never bothered me though, I always had enough love.

My brothers and I were closer. They protected me like a daughter and were always sweet to me. They took me with them when they would go places and bought me small things. Ben was the quiet, intimidating one with muscles rivaling a 25 year olds at 17 and Noah was outspoken and playful, completely opposite of Ben. We backed each other up when one would get in trouble and that's how it was.

Up until I got up and left, that is.

Continuing through the house I reach the bottom of the stairs and flashbacks suddenly hit me. Being shoved against the wall, yelling and cursing at Leo, sliding down and crying until my head pounded. My heart starts to ache and I rub the tender spot until it passes.

Then it's there again as I remember how he crouched next to me, long fingers running roughly through his wavy hair while he mumbled, "Fuck, fuck, fuck..." He would touch my shoulder and I would flinch, making his eyes glaze over.

Just as soon as the memory came, it was gone.

Taking in a deep breath, I continue to make my way up the stairs, feeling worse than I did walking in.
