After changing into my travelling clothes I left my room to find Nathanieel standing outside my door. I did a double take.

“What are you doing here?” I asked, pleasure sneaking into my voice.

“Well I did some asking around and found that you were planning on going down to talk to the Fellowship of the Ring, so I decided that I want to come with you and meet them. Especially this Erynion character.”

“Nathanieel! Don’t talk to people behind my back!” He looked so innocent. I laughed. “Come on then. Wait! When did you find out about the Fellowship?”

“Haldir told me.” He answered. We walked down the stairs and along a path on the forest floor.

“Uh, do you know the way?” I ask.

“I think so.” He led me to a smaller tree about 100 metres away. We ducked under it and found empty beds. Sam was sitting there, folding his kit and making his bed. He didn’t see us until I cleared my throat.

“Ireth! Where have you been? We’ve been worried sick! Are you ok?” He asked. I giggled at his concern.

“Do not worry, Sam. I have been well taken care of.” I reassured him. Sam’s gaze moved to Nathanieel, a questioning look in his eye.

I laugh at Sam’s scepticism. I stopped laughing and looked at him.

“This is my... His name is Nathanieel. He is not dangerous, at least not to us.” I stutter. How would Sam react if he knew I had been reading his mind? It’d probably freak him out.

“Hello Sam.” Nathanieel greeted.

“Do you know where the others are?” I asked Sam. He nodded and pointed behind us.

“They’re at the boat docks. Across that road there and down a side path.” Sam directed.

“Thankyou.” Nathanieel said.

“Would you care to join us, Sam?” I asked. I didn’t want to have to explain things twice and I planned on telling the others everything that had happened as soon as I saw them.

“Sure, I’m just about done with the tidying up. I’ll meet you down there in a minute or two.” He said. I nodded and joined Nathanieel outside.

“Are you going to tell them?” Nathanieel asked. I nodded my head. “All of it?” I sigh. This isn’t going to be easy.

“Nathanieel, I need to tell them everything because I couldn’t stand it if I was lying to them… on the road.” Nathanieel’s head whipped around and his eyes sought mine. He leant down and grabbed my hands.

“Ireth I don’t want you to go.” He said. His voice almost sounded like a whimper.
