I'm not an idiot

As soon as he got back home he rushed to Vurb's place, and with a quick packing of things the two left, hiding in the woods. They travelled in the forest for many days, going through several biomes before deciding to make a camp in the roofed forest, right by the river. Vurb never questioned Landon's quick decision of lying to their leader. He was actually happy that his friend had cared enough to lie to someone that powerful just to save him, even if he had failed brutally.

They spent the longest time in the forest, Landon happy that he had taken sword lessons from his cousin. He teached Vurb and together they killed every animal they could to get food. Neither of them enjoyed it there, but neither told the other. Until one day, when they sat by their weak fire and grilled some chicken.

"This is the worst thing I've ever done" Vurb explained, sighing deeply. "I'm so tired"

"Me too, I just wish we could go back" Landon replied, leaning back onto the log the two had placed by the fire, where they also slept.

"At least I wish we knew how to build things" Vurb told the younger, looking at their wreck of a camp. They didn't have a windshield or tent, they just suffered the rain when it came. They were both outworn and tired, but they couldn't just take a day off to just chill, because then they would starve instead. Honestly Landon just wished he could go back home, where he had lived the life of a noble child.

"Hey!" A sudden voice woke up the two campers, and before them a blonde guy in a grey striped hoodie stood. Landon knew the man as one of his cousin's fellow clan members, Kenworth.

"Hi Kenny" he replied, yawning.

"You have some stake Landon, staying out here. Do you know how many people out here is out to kill you?" he asked the younger with an angry tone, but Landon stayed where he was, not willing to show any fear.

"I did what I had to" he told the older with determination, Landon didn't believe the words himself, but he wanted others to believe that.

"Yeah right. You did what you thought you had to, and now all our friends are dying" Kenworth told him with a stern voice. "I did everything for you, I even helped you train" he then added, sounding disappointed.

"I don't know what to tell you Kenworth. I told Herobrine what I had to, I just did my job" I assured him.

"Like I'm supposed to believe that. I'm not an idiot Landon" the older told him before nodding his head to Vurb, then he left their camp. Landon debated for about ten seconds to change their camp's hiding spot, he didn't know if he could trust Kenworth to not tell anybody where he was, but then he realized what state both he and Vurb was in. They wouldn't be able to move if they so wanted to.
