^^ Avery's Best friend Olivia on the Top ^^
I woke up sweaty and bothered. I could still hear the monster's voice echoing in my head...
"Stupid girl...Trust no one"
That snickering, sniveling monster. I could smell her stinky breath all over me.
I ran my fingers across my chest where the claws had dug into my skin. I could not feel anything. There was no blood gushing out of my wounds. My body was still in one piece.
"It was just a dream. Ave. Just a dream. Calm down".
But sleep didn't come to me anymore. I just lay there listening to the ticking of the clock on the wall and the soft snores of my sister sleeping peacefully beside me.
I stared at the ceiling as the sky turned brighter, soft sunlight spilling into my dark room. One more restless night full of nightmares, tossing and turning, trying to get some fresh air as my sweaty hair stuck to my face and neck.

*Beep Beep* *Beep Beep*
My alarm rings...I snooze it and lie back down on my back.
I think about how it all started...
Ever since the beginning of high school, my life changed drastically.
I started having nightmares. The nightmares in which monsters chased me and hunted me. It started with me just witnessing random people dying. I was there but not always in my body. Sometimes I was a man in the 1900s or a woman in some sewing industry. But I was just a spectator and saw the closest person to me die. Things started to tweak a little bit. The world changed. The skies got darker day by day. The way they died got more gruesome. Missing hearts, chewed intestines, a body with every organ missing, skin peeled away. And I was there...to witness the whole thing. I saw people being carved, butchered, cut, peeled in ways you can't imagine. I got more and more involved.
And then one night...I will never forget that dream. I was running away from something. I was a man. I was wearing a suit. There was this James Bond feel to the situation. I had two people beside me. We seemed close. And then there were gunshots. That night, I felt that tugging in my mind, as if the person whose body I was wearing was still in there, trying to get his body to move to save his friend...
That night I decided to intervene. And it changed everything. Suddenly, I was the person that was dying. I was the prey. They had fun playing around with me while I was running for my life, trying my best to survive. Whenever I would die in my nightmare, I would wake up in real life, panting and tired from efforts to stay alive in my dream. It got worse and worse.
The same nightmare over and over again until I learnt how to survive it. And then... another nightmare, but the same process. Wake up, go to school, come home, do homework, dinner, go to sleep, die, wake up, go to school...... The same cycle over and over and over again.
I lay there waiting for my alarm to ring again... I close my eyes tired of this life. The darkness, and depression and anxiety...it's bound to catch up with me. Somehow...I am holding up right now. But one day, soon, I will crumble under this weight.
