Day 35:

" I don't know how much longer my body can handle this. It's as if my head is being crushed, my bones cracking and breaking as each day passes. This world becomes grayer and grayer, as if nothing can keep it going. I've learned to trick the lifeless corpses that roam the streets, hiding and wondering if they'll find me. "Ryder... Ryder...Ryder" they chant. I always find myself face to face with the decision of taking the risk. However, as time passes, I can't seem to help but wonder if it's even possible anymore. My mind is slowly deteriorating. Every memory of what I once knew is fading in an endless sea of death. What I once knew is no longer there, just an endless corridor of boarded up doors. Know this, death wins every time. You can hide for a while, but like everything else, it can smell you out. I'm going to keep running with everything I have. There has to be a safer place. There just has to be, or this is all for nothing."

As I stopped writing I placed the letter onto the seat, knowing no one would read it. I breathed slowly, in and out, trying my best as to not make any noise. Suddenly, a voice resounded in the hallway, making my skin crawl with fear. "Ryder... where are you?" I heard her giggle and I heard the door creak open from the room outside of the closet I trapped myself in. "You can hide, but not for long." I heard her wheeze out, and I could tell she was coughing up blood, her normal routine for every time she talked too much. I looked through the small peep hole located near the right side of the closet doors. "W-w-w-w-where are y-y-ou-u?" she growled out, stuttering, as if a glitch took her over. She reminded me of a virus on a laptop that you could not get rid of. Her body would freeze, only to go into a series of fits whenever she talked. Her body hunched over, and in her left arm was a small silver dagger. Her eyes were bloodshot, with tears streaming down her extremely pale white face. Her hair was matted and stuck to her face. the pieces that weren't connected with her face were knotted up and torn apart, dangling on by only a thread. Was this really the girl I knew before?

I watched her slowly drag herself out of the room, finding this room empty. Her gasps and glitches were heard as she kept growing further and further away. My body worked on its own, sliding out of the tiny confinements that kept me safe for the time being. I slowly crept towards my destination, located on the other side of the house. I needed my medicine, and fast, before it was too late. I heard the girls sliding on the other side, and I kept in all forms of noise inside of me, slowly moving so she would not hear me. I made sure not to get closer to her so she didn't sense me. After I got past her I got quicker with my movements, knowing I was getting near. But as I heard her gasps and groans getting nearer, I knew I was going to have to hide again this time. I went into the bathroom on the left of me, hearing her moans getting louder and louder with each passing second. 'Why me?' I asked myself as I slowly placed myself in the bathtub. I was so close to my destination, only about two rooms away. I heard weeping come from outside of the room. "You couldn't save me!" It screeched. And with that she slowly walked away.

'So close,' I thought. I dragged myself to the room that started everything. My room. In it, everything was untouched, unlike the blood stained hallways littered among the rest of my house. The puddles of blood, saliva, skin, and bone was no longer present in my room. I looked around at the pictures, hoping to find any clues, but fell short. The pictures were only of me, posing as if something used to be there. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember who was in the pictures with me, and I looked behind me at the door, making sure no one was there. Quickly, I looked through the desk, trying to find the pill bottle that was given to me by someone I had already forgot. "Where are you..?" I muttered, as my mind raced with the need to hurry before 'it' got me.

Finally, I found the bottle I was looking for. I opened it, and tried to get the pills to come out, but only two came out. "Here goes nothing." I told myself, and as I lifted my hand up to put the pills in my mouth, I heard an inhumane screech behind me, and I turned to see my worst fear. The girl holding the dagger. She was suddenly in front of me, and the bottle fell out of my hand, the pills falling to the ground as I held her off, her body onto mine, trying to grab me. I smelled her disgusting and filthy breath hit my face as she breathed as hard as she could. "I f-f-f-found YOU!" She screamed in pure rage as blood flew from her mouth onto my horrified face. I screamed in horror and then pain as she plunged the knife deep into my stomach. I fell to the ground, groaning in pain with her watching me with the bloody knife in her hand. She laughed at me, her voice cracking and breaking at each syllable. "You will suffer" she growled, and with that everything went black, and I could not feel her presence with me anymore.
