Hullo Humans. Have fun with this chapter! I slaved over it.
Unfortunately, it seemed like my wish wouldn't come true.
All I had done was walk down a hallway, looking at the numbers on the rows, looking for #527. However, that was much harder than I expected. I stated at the 300s and ended up in the 700s, not even knowing where I was. By the time I finally found the dam locker, the 1st bell rand, meaning that I had three minutes to get to my homeroom, which I had no idea how to get to, as I didn't know where it was. I was caught in a swarm of other teenagers trying to get to their homeroom.
I eventually gave up on my dignity and pride and asked a person where Mrs. Ganneran's room was. I knew the room number, but I eventually just joined a group of people who were in the same homeroom as me. The room was obviously a science room. There was a poster on the wall with the word "GeNiUS" written in the elements, a long with a few other punny chemistry joke and human anatomy posters.
The teacher herself reminded me of Mrs. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus. She seemed to be about 30, with no makeup on and a dress covered in beakers. She had a pair of reading glasses attached to a chain around her neck.
The moment I walk into the room, I realized instantly that something was wrong. A few boys glanced at me, then began to snicker and point at something near me.
Oh no, I thought to myself. I didn't even think about what I was putting on this morning. Please don't let it be too embarassing... I looked down and immediately wished I hadn't.
My shirt was bright pink, with a white outline of Hello Kitty and black letters that spelled "What a purrfect day to sleep in". I was wearing a pair of grey sweatpants with a black stain on the inner thigh where I had spilled paint on them last week. My hair was not just a messy bun, but half of it was up and the other half was hanging unflatteringly down the side of my face.
My face flushed and I tried to look confident as I passed a group of girls in trendy clothes pinting at me and giggling. I snuck off to a corner where there was only one other person, a boy who was scribbling furiously on a piece of paper. I leaned over his shoulder. The drawing resembled a bunch of circles all lined up in a row. He was adding little triangles in between each of them, until I finally understood what he was sketching.
"That's a Mandala, right?"He jumped at the sound of my voice, and stared at me for a couple seconds too long. I blushed as his mouth dropped and rushed to pull my hair down. He stammered as I combed through it with my fingers.
"I-I... Uh, yeah. Hi. Do you like it?"
"Yes, I think it is good. What's your name," I asked him, glad that he had finally stopped staring.
"Thomas Kirkman, but you can call me Tom."
"Jessica Graham, but you can call me Jess," I mimicked him. He gave a little laugh at that, then looked at me a little closer.
"You're dressed like a popular, but you have the emotion of something else. What are you?" He began looking at me closer, almost as if he was trying to gaze into my soul so he could paint it. He slowly returned to the living and smiled at me.
"Can I- can I draw you?" Tom asked, blushing. I nodded, then sat next to him. He had me sit in a comfortable position, as if it was just another day in summer.
He had just managed to finishe the picture as the homeroom ended. During the time, I was allowed to speak, and we had exchanged schedules. We had nearly all the same classes, except for our extracurriculars. He had an Art elective while I had band. I was a flautist (A/N: Sorry if my flute knowledge is limited. I am a bassoonist). I smiled at him as he packed up his pencils and sketchbook. When we knew the exact location of our English classroom, we set off down the hall, telling each other how our summers went. I know this sounds cheesy, but I was happy to have found a new best friend.
So... yes. This is where I am leaving off for a while. Vote, comment, and check out my other book. Don;t forget to look at my friend MAZing21's books too! She's the one who introduced me to Wattpad.
Bye, Puny Humans!
