November 15th 1776

My name is Bethany Catherine Schuylur, as of now I am nineteen years old living in the Schuylur household.

Both my Mother and Father are alive and I have three sisters. Whom of which are called, Peggy, Eliza and Angelica. Angelica being the oldest out of us four, then I would be the second eldest, Eliza and then Peggy the youngest out of us three.

I have thought for a while if writing this journal to myself would be beneficial for my future or if I needed to let something out of my system. So now I am writing this to myself as a begining to the many chapters I will write, for myself of course.

I would like to start off writing about my day. It started off as a normal regular morning, like every single day that I have been alive.

I would get dressed and pamper myself up before heading to the parlor, or dinner table as Peggy would call it. A simple procedure, but I take forever to just get dressed and pamper mysf up, just for my parents' approval, and yet again. What does little old Bethany get in return...

A scolding for being to late by dear old Mother...

She should be glad I am doing this. I never really liked it to begin with, it all started when I turned thirteen, Angelica warned me a couple of days before my birthday, telling me being a grown-up is not fun. Should have listened to her...

There is one man that could understand me like no other, his name? John Laurens. He has been courting me for about four months now, surprising me with each date. I could still remember our first date, a gallop through the abandoned farm house and through it's fields. It was a great night, we chatted and laughed together. We are not that different really. He is from South Carolina, has the most fluffy hair, so soft like silk. His eyes, oh his eyes, it's the most brilliant shade of emerald green eyes, it shined like a stone. Freckles would be splattered across his face, be was magnificent.

I'm going off topic... Like I said before, I am nineteen as of now. My birthday was a couple of days ago November First, it was nice and I enjoyed it. I had Betsy Ross, one of my childhood friends, come over to my house. I didn't have a large birthday ball like all the others, but it was simple and I got to blow out the candles from the cake. Oh, and John was such a sweetheart, he got me such an expensive necklace, it must've costed most of the money he had. It was a gold chain necklace with a ruby, my favorite gemstone.

Angelica, Peggy and Eliza were thrilled about this as always. They are always proud of me, that I found someone like John, they all like him and want me to marry him. I'm fine with marriage, I just needed to find the right one.

But besides that, I am happy as I am. There is nothing much to say now, so signing off now.

Bethany closed her journal and placed it under her pillow, patting it and she took a glance of her balconey. Walking towards it and looked out into the night sky. She sighed and waited.

She was to be meeting John in a couple of minutes. She wrote in the journal just to kill time.

"Pssst! Bethie!" She heard from her balconey followed by a rock landing. "Bethie!"

Betty rushed towards her balconey and looked down, laughing and seeing John look up at her.

"I'm here, I brought food too." He said, holding the basket.

"One second!" She whisper-shouted to him rushing to her closet and grabbing the rope of cloth laying in the back. She headed and had let go to the bottom where John attached the basket to the rope of cloth.
