Epilogue
Jody was not going to lie and say the past year had been peachy. But she was going to admit that all the months of counseling, courtship, confessions, arguments had started to pay off in the last month, especially since their second wedding and honeymoon on their eighth first wedding anniversary.
She chuckled at her thoughts. And she knew Steve would smile with her if he heard them. If only he wasn't at work now.
She groaned. She was bored and she missed him and their twins. She would have gone to see her parents but they were on vacation in Paris alongside her parents in law.
The thought of doing her assignment for her online class almost made her cry. She was always easily tired these days and she knew what was up. She just didn't know what to do- or more like how to say it.
There was not much she could do not that she would want to do anything.
She sighed and rolled over to the other side of the bed searching her mind for what to do but then grinned when she heard the familiar car honk.
She stood up quickly and immediately felt dizzy and sat back on the edge of the bed.
Oh...she would make a mental note to be more careful next time. When her eyes cleared, she stood but this time, more calculated.
By the time she got downstairs, Tory and Vincent were closing the front door behind them.
"Look who decided it was time to relieve your mother of the boredom."
They both grinned and her heart melted. She couldn't ask for better children.
For that and many more, Lord, I thank you.
Tory who surprisingly had started to look much more like her gave her a hug, she kissed her forehead.
"How was school?"
"Great."
Vincent hugged her even tighter. "Sorry you were alone and bored. Has Dad called since he left for work?"
She shook her head at him but smiled. "Only three times."
Both the twins laughed.
Tory slumped lazily on the new lemon grren couch that brightened up the room. "Can you believe he called Miss Bryant and told her to come to my class and check up on me?"
Vincent scoffed and imitated his twin. "The principal asked if I was okay, if I had eaten lunch or needed anything. I'm sure Dad had called him earlier. Its cool." He grinned.
"But?" Jody prompted.
"It attracts the attention of other students. I don't want to be treated differently by my peers."
"Me neither."
"Okay. Ill tell him to tone it down."
"Thanks."
"Why don't you go take a shower and come down for a snack before dinner?"
When they stood to leave, Jody noticed their lunch boxes lying on the floor. "Take your boxes to the kitchen."
"Tory please take mine along."
"Lazy freak." She called at Vincent who was already climbing the staircase. "I'm your older sister."
"Hey! I'm telling uncle David you think he looks like Justin Bieber."
Jody laughed at that.
Seriously?!
Davis was going to flipJody stepped out of the bathroom thirty minutes after she went in and met Steve's worried eyes.
"I'm fine." She smiled, wondering if she should put him out of his misery. Or not.
He reached out and took her hands in his. "Tell me, you know I'm never going to sleep again until you do."
She laughed out loud at that. "Yeah, that was why curiosity killed the cat."
He grinned and pulled her into bed with him. "Okay, let me guess." He turned to look at her with slightly wide eyes.
"What?"
"You have decided to plan a wedding for David and Rose?"
She groaned and flopped back on the bed. "Way off."
He groaned too. "If you were ticklish, I would have tickled it out of you."
"Okay, okay." She turned to him and kissed him.
"Wow, that was some kiss." He breathed out a minute later when they came up for air.
"I am pregnant."
"Wait...what?"
