I slid my backpack over my shoulder hugging my body together. The scene of yesterday was manipulating my brain certainly and I didn't forget but over time I am sure I would, it wasn't gonna be that hard. The police sirens controlled my ears and my eyes trailed around looking for the source before I even realized the car had parked next to me. A policeman came out and I noticed it was Mr.Michael Dosantas, a policeman that was often around our school inspecting kids who get into street racing, fights, or drugs. “Hello Mateo, sorry for disturbing.” Mr.Michael greeted nodding at me. I nodded back and said, “Officer, nice to see you and no not at all I am free!” He cracked a smile and asked politely, “The station has assigned me to arrest you. Please come with me.” My face turned yellow and pale and I am pretty sure my eyes were stable and empty almost dead not to mention the rollercoaster in my stomach.

“Relax kiddo I am just joking you looked a little pale when I announced it unless you are involved in some deep shit.” He chuckled.

I retreated back to my original state and cocked an eyebrow playfully ,”Nope I am okay and you shouldn't swear.” He smiled widely again before returning back to stand in front of his door.

“Get in kiddo They want you for questioning on Brad Lancaster's murder poor boy.” Mr.Michael shrugged his shoulders and got in. I stood silently for a moment my shoulders stiffening the scene replaying again in my mind before getting in. The police station was pretty close and it wasn't long until I was escorted to an empty room with just a table and chairs.

Shortly after sitting, The sergeant came in with the recorder. I kept my eyes fixed on the floor as I fidgeted with my hands so I couldn't get a clear look of the sergeant or recorder’s features.

“Hello Mateo I hope you're feeling good.” The sergeant said and it sounded manly

I nodded slightly.

“We're here for Brad Lancaster's murder.”

“Where were you at the time of the murder. We noticed your dad didn't come to pick you up.” The sergeant asked

“Yeah he was busy at work and so he said he will come late but after a bit I left for a walk.” I said

“So you’re saying you weren't there at the time of murder?” He asked while I just nodded again

“Ok how well did you know the victim?” He wondered.

“I didn't he was just a bully that I didn't want to get involved with.” I answered truthfully

“I see but I have noticed Brad has been discriminating your published poetry book did u get any action against him?” He asked suspiciously

“I didn't I ignored him whoever loved my work won't listen to him.” I said softly

“You're very fond of poetry then. Tell me Mateo do you have a suspect in mind or a reason why anybody would do such a horrible act?” The sergeant asked again his voice becoming impatient.

I took a moment to answer before saying, “No I don't have any suspect but as I said he was a bully to many people so anyone might have taken this as a reason I am not surprised if he was involved with some drug dealers too.” I replied

“I will keep that in mind you're free to go.” The sergeant said

I got up and walked out believing I did the right thing
