"You have no power over me."
Such simple words.
Simple words that tore someone apart.
Not the girl from whose lips the words fell.
Nor the man whose heart broke with each syllable.
But, instead it was the plane on which the two dwelt.
The Labyrinth's cracks, once filled with the magic of its master, began to widen and separate the intricate cobbled pathways and walls that held her together. Widely unused parts of the land fell into ruin, whilst the inhabitants flocked to the inner city to find safety.
The King knew that those words would cause his glorious kingdom to crumble. He offered only love to the champion. He begged her to stay. Please do not allow my land to crumble. My people to perish. Myself to reside alone in a broken world that could be so easily saved by you.
"You have no power over me."
This was not something that the Labyrinth had the luxury to say to her champion.
And as Sarah returned to the Aboveground, her beloved brother in tow and nothing but happiness filling her heart, the Goblin King was locked in a room; mourning over a large crystal that had once shone brilliantly. Until the champion stole its light.

Sarah walked into her apartment, flipping on the light and putting her keys in the small dish on the table next to the door. She groaned as she was finally able to kick off her heeled boots and sighed happily while hanging up her coat. Throwing her brief case full of papers to grade onto the table, she thought about the long night she was bound to have grading them. The teaching assignment she'd been given for the next three months was to cover for a middle school English teacher's three classes per day while the teacher was on maternity leave.
She looked to her fridge with longing and sighed, deciding to start on her grading later, Sarah went to the kitchen and grabbed a wine glass and a bottle of Rosé. She poured the pink liquid into the glass and set the bottle back down, taking a seat on her couch and sipping generously. It had been a long day. She'd spilled coffee all over her desk, had to send two children to the principal, and she had about sixty-two papers to go through.
While lounging on her couch, she grabbed her phone and began to flip through her social media. Her cousin's birthday was today - though she'd already wished him a happy one. Her mother's husband, Jeremy, had gotten a part in the soap opera Days of Our Lives; something he has been pining after for years.
Sarah's eyes began to droop shortly after she finished her wine. The dim light of her phone lulling her to sleep.

Sarah, help.
What?
'Elp us, Sarah.
Who are they...? Such familiar voices?
My Lady, please.
Why do they call? They need... my help?
Sarah.
What help do they need?
Champion.

Sarah woke up with a start, her phone laying on her chest and her wine glass perched on the arm of the couch. She tried to remember the dream she had but couldn't. Something about helping someone.
Shaking that off, she grabbed her phone and looked at the time. It was ten o'clock. She decided she had time to get through the papers and stood from her spot on the couch, stretching. As she turned to where her kitchen table was, her eyes fell upon a slightly familiar yet startling figure sitting in one of its chairs. She gasped loudly and her hand went to her heart.
"Hello, precious."
