After Luke had left back down the tree, Astyr decided Fotia was probably hungry again. She ran out into the backyard with a flashlight and found two big worms.
After doing so, she ran back into the house and got a plastic dish to put the worms in. When Astyr got back to her room, she swore that Fotia looked a somewhat bigger then she did five minutes ago. She shrugged it off and put the container in Fotia's cage and hopped into bed.
The next thing Astyr knew was that she was falling. When she opened her eyes, she was midway in the air from the cliff to the water at Manano island. She was wildly screaming, partly because of the rush, and partly because she had no clue how and why she was at the island.
And then she was in the water. After resurfacing, Astyr choked out some water and then made her way to the shore she had been on only a day before. Astyr stood on the shore and looked around. There was no body else. No Luke. No Chase. She was all alone. By this time, Astyr was flipping out, but at the same time felt a pull towards the closed up cave that she had been at earlier as well. So she started walking.
After heading down the path she had taken earlier, she came across the cave. Astyr felt a sort of pulling sensation that drew her nearer and nearer to the blocked part of cave. She walked in, and to her surprise, found a ruby wedged in the side of the rock near the blocked off rock. She reached for it, not knowing what would happen, and...
"Astyr! Wake up!"
Astyr aroused from her dream slightly shaking and threw the overs off of herself.
"Astyr!!" Her dad now sounded aggravated. After another yell, Astyr realized her dad was knocking at her door.
"Shit." Astyr whispered, and ran out of her bed to Fotia's cage. "Hi dad," she managed to yell while trying to pick up Fotia's large cage.
"You finally up in there? Can I come in?"
"Um... well I'm not dressed." Astyr lied. "Wait a second." Astyr grabbed the cage and sprinted out to her balcony. She set the cage down hidden in the trees branches and ran back into her room. "Okay dad, come on in."
Astyr's dad entered, a frown on his face and was clearly confused. "You're normally up by now, kid,"
"Guess I was tired, " Astyr shrugged.
"Alright well, I was going to ask you to run to the store for me..."
Astyr took this as an opportunity to distract herself from the still vivid dream. "I'll go!"
Her dad looked surprised but smiled. "Great, the list is on the table." He turned around to leave but looked back at Astyr. "You also might want to wash up a bit before you leave."
Astyr nodded and her dad left. She stole a glance at her reflection in the mirror and noticed her makeup from yesterday that she forgot to wash off was stained under her eyes and cheeks. She looked like a clown stuck in a rainstorm.
She threw on a pair of jeans and her favorite gray hoodie and dashed into the bathroom to remove the black streaks off her face.
After that, she rushed down the stairs, grabbed the grocery list from the table, and sprinted out the door.
Astyr ran around the side of her house and hopped onto her bike, still thinking about her earlier dream.

Astyr got back to her house and dropped off her groceries in the kitchen. Then she went up to her bedroom to check on Fotia. When she got to the cage, Fotia was as large as an adult parrot. Astyr was astonished; when she had left earlier, Fotia was barely half that size.
When Astyr decided to opened the cage to hold the parrot, Fotia took off. She flew out of the room and towards the ocean. "Fotia! Fotia!" Astyr ran out on her balcony and screamed as loud as she could, but by that time, the bird was long gone.
Astyr sighed while walking back in, slammed the cage door shut, and rolled onto her bed. She hoped Fotia would either come back or live happily on her own; it's not like she was going to keep the bird forever, Astyr told herself.
Just then, Astyr remembered the size Fotia was when she left, and suddenly, wanted to know more about the almost magical bird.
Astyr sprinted back down her stairs and out the door. She ran along the beach until she reached Chase's uncles' house. Breathing heavily and looking around, Astyr saw the boat. Not even thinking, she climbed onto the boat and headed towards the only place she could think to go...the cave on Manano Island.
When she arrived there, Astyr ran directly to the cave and just like in her dreams, she found the ruby immediately. Astyr grinned to herself and went to pull the ruby out of the rock. It moved a little as she tugged, and as soon as it did, the cave began to glow red. The light seemed to be radiating off of the red gem. The entrance to the cave suddenly disappeared behind mounds of bushes and trees as the plants moved to cover the opening. Astyr was beyond worried. She was all alone in a dark, mysterious cave that was getting engulfed in a glowing light, and there was no way out...
