A voice echoed through the train: "We will be reaching Hogwarts in five minutes' time. Please leave your luggage on the train, it will be taken to the school separately."
[Name] was with Hermione the whole time, and they decided that they'd be best friends rather than being strangers. It worked out pretty well.
They then rode on a boat, which seems to be moving by itself, and [Name] was finally reunited with the two boys.
Harry didn't dare talk to [Name] while they were in the boat, so it was kind of pretty awkward for the both of them. Fortunately, Ron started small talk with him, so he just put all his attention to Ron just so he could try and forget what happened on the train.
Everyone was silent, staring up at the great castle overhead. It towered over them as they sailed nearer and nearer to the cliff on which it stood.
"Heads down!" yelled Hagrid as the first boats reached the cliff; they all bent their heads and the little boats carried them through a curtain of ivy that had a wide opening in the cliff face. They were carried along a dark tunnel, which seemed to be taking them right underneath the castle, until they reached a kind of underground harbor, where they clambered out onto rocks and pebbles.
"Oy, you there! Is this yer toad?" Hagrid said, who was checking the boats as people climbed out of them.
"Trevor!" cried Neville blissfully, holding out his hands.
"I'm glad Neville found his toad again," whispered [Name] to Hermione.
They walked up a flight of stone steps and crowded around the huge, oak front door.
"Everyone here? You there, still got yer toad?"
Hagrid raised a gigantic fist and knocked three times on the castle door.
The door swung open at once. A tall, black-haired witch in emerald-green robes stood there. She had a very stern face and [Name]'s first thought was this was not someone to cross.
"The firs' years, Professor McGonagall," said Hagrid.
"Thank you Hagrid. I will take them from here."
She pulled the door wide. The entrance hall was so big you could have fit at least a thousand people in it. The stone walls were lit with flaming torches, the ceiling was too high to make out, and a magnificent marble staircase facing them led to the upper floors.
"Wow, I never expected the castle to be this big," cried [Name], who was gawking at almost everything she sees. Harry wasn't much of a difference. He, too had a similar expression.
[Name] went to Harry's side after she thought she was done admiring the whole place. It was rather awkward for Hermione because Ron was the only one beside her now, and the two had no intention on socializing with each other.
Meanwhile, Harry was discussing random topics with [Name] like, when was she born or what was the silliest thing she gets nostalgic for. Sure, it was small talk, but Harry felt they were having a deep conversation together.
They followed Professor McGonagall across the flagged stone floor. Harry could hear the drone of hundreds of voices from a doorway to the right--the rest of the school must be already here--but Professor McGonagall showed the first years into a small, empty chamber off the hall. They crowded in, standing rather closer than [Name] and Harry would usually have done, peering about nervously.
