PROLOUGE
People find it perculiar that i'm a Goddess warrior , and Guardian of the gates of hell. The blood coursing through my veins is only partly humane. i'm here for one reason , and one reason only .. to destroy all evil even if it is my soulmate.
Chapter one: welcome to the family
I awoke to the sound of combat practice commencing. "ugh not again" , i thought to myself , as i jumped out of bed , knocking over my glass of water on the antique nightstand. Pulling out my clothes from the duffle bag beneath the heavy mattress , i found my combat shorts and worn out boots. This was not the first time i was late for practice and things didn't go to well the last time i was late. "Great Lexi. Nice job".
I was greeted by my boot camp director , and nightmare from hell Mr. Barnes. He was stumpy, with long hair as black as the night sky , scrapped back into a tight ponytail. Although his eyes were sparkling green , they contained a bitter coldness that could awake the dead with one deadly glare. Despite all this he had trained Olymic Gods and Godesses for centuries, even the occassional human solider in World War One, he was not to be messed with. When i pulled my jumper over my head , Mr.Barnes was staring at me with a look of pure disgust. "Well , well Mrs.Jones , nice of you to join us".
Heads turned to glare at me , although all i noticed was the fit muscular built bodies dripping in sweat. I was the only girl in the group as i refused to train with the female godesses , as all they were concerned with was looking beautiful , and let's face it ..... men can't be left to fight all the battles, where would the fun in that be?
Mr.Barnes smiled his devilish smile and spoke in his harsh tone " everyone five laps of the entire camp thanks to Mrs Jones". We all groaned in protest , the guys were not impressed with this as they wopuld have to run past the girls and did i mention all these Gods are shirtless? I joined the end of the line and proceeded to run my laps , suddenly the large speakers began to ring and an announcement was made. "Lexi Jones , please report to Mrs Nature for your frequent late arrivals to practice". Whoo mother nature won't save my ass again this time.
As i approached the dirt track , leading towards mother natures head office , i noticed that eyes were peering out through the over grown shrubs the whole way up the track. Is this a bad omen? , i wondered to myself but i decided to shrug off the indifferent vibe i was feeling , growing within the pit of my stomach. "it's bad news Lexi , you're going to be sent to hell. Run while you still have the chance". The woman in the black cloak whispered to me across the breeze , sending shivers down my spine.
Hell! , panic flooded through me as i recall the stories that were told about this place they referred to as hell. Funny thing is they never returned , so basically they are considered to be fables of our kind. I felt the urge to run and hide , while turningt to run back down the dirt track thunder sounded above my head ,and dark clouds decended upon me . Mother Nature would stop at nothing until i saw her. " The only way is up.. right?"
Mother Nature was perched upon her wooden swing , overflowing with white roses and buttercups. Her white garment drapped along the floor , while her long golden locks fell loosely around her shoulders , and her deep ocean blue eyes pierced your soul. She spoke in a sweet melodic tone , "Lexi Jones , so good to finally meet with you. As you know you're here for a reason and one reason only".
Tears welled over the corners of my eyes , as i thought of my mother during the last battle with the hounds of hell. She kissed my tender forehead and promised me she would return victorious. I waited for her every day and night for 10 years and no one has heard from her since. I raised myself entirely and cried myself to sleep when i couldn't remember what she looked like. Now i was bound to have the same faith. "Please don't send me to hell." I blurted out between the loose tears falling from my eyes.
She turned to look at me with an amused expression on her perfect face. "Lexi my dear , not hell but earth". Earth? i thought to myself ..... why would anyone want to go there for a mission ? She sighed as she walked towards the small earth globe , located in the corner of the room. She sighed before she spoke. "We have been experiencing terrible things among the people of earth , in a smalll priarie town called Warrington Key. 1,350 demons of the night have invaded this town ,and it is up to you to put a stop to it".
I stared dumbfounded. "You want me to .. destroy these demons because..." . " I fear that they will break the barrier between our world and the human world , thus destroying our souls and civilisation as we know it". I began to laugh , furious with my light hearted approach to the sitiuation , Mr's Nature clicked her fingers and I was falling through the gates of bootcamp from hell and into the abyss.
