It's 4:00 am and I can't sleep. That's how my night's have been sicne Haze left. I pick up my guitar as I start to strum the cords. I am surrounded by darkness as I am too lazy to turn on the lights. I am about to use my voice for comfort when my phone buzzes. I scrunch my eyes together trying to figure out as to why someone would be calling me at 4:00 am.
"Hello?" My concerened voice questions through the phone.
"Hi Camila it's Mr.Montgomery. I was just wondering have you heard from Haze at all? He asks sounding just as tired as I am.
"No I am sorry I haven't. He didn't make it home yet?" I ask as a hint of worry starts to form.
"No he hasn't. I called the rehab center to see if he went there first , they said he hasn't checked in yet. Sorry to call you this late I just thought by chance that he hasn't left yet." Mr.Montgomery says. I can hear a sigh of worry escape through the other end of the phone.
"Well he could be stuck in traffic or he could have stoped somewhere to spend the night." I add trying to lighten up the mood just a little.
"Yeah he could have. I hope that's the case. Well I'll let you go since it's really late. Call if you hear from Haze?" Mr. Montgomery asks.
"Yeah sure I will. I am sure he's just fine." I reply.
"Okay thanks , good night Camila." He says as he ends the call with out waiting for me to respond.
With my worries starting to take ahold of me I quickly hit Haze's contact number. One ring, two ring, three , four, then his recoreded voice echo's through my ear. With that being done I quickly send him a text asking about his whereabouts. Again no answer. I toss the phone down on the bed in defeat. This isn't like Haze. Not at all. He always calls when he's away no matter what time it is.
It's now 7:00 am. I unwillingly open my eyes as the sun rays shine through my curtains. I jump out of bed to open the curtains to allow the sun rays to fully shine through my bedroom. I open my window to let the mornings air hit my face for a full wake up call. The chirping of birds soon fill my ears as I see a flock fly across the neighbors house.
As I am about to look away a boy appears. He slowly open's up his window. He repeats my actions before grabbing his guitar. As he turns around to turn on his computer he stops and sends me this cute embarrassed smile as he still remains in his pjs. I give him a half smile as I wave back. Then the memories from last night come running back as I watch the boy grab his phone. I quickly turn around to grab mine leaving the boy alone.
I sigh as once again there still remains no messages from Haze. I suddenly jump as the sound of my door bell echo's through the house. Of course I manage to drop my phone as the bell went off. As curiosity hits me my feet take me down the stairs. A smile starts to form as I notice the boy in the window standing by my door step.
"Good morning." He smiles as I open my door.
"Good morning." I respond. A small shy smile grows as I notice the boy smiling at me.
"Hi I am Austin. I have been meaning to introduce myself earlier when I first saw you move in only I couldn't quiet get myself to." The boy now named Austin says.
"This may sound weird but could we grab some breakfast now or are you busy?" Austin asks in a rush. It's almost as if he sounds nervous.
I give him a questioning look which soon changes to an observant look. The boy from the window who's name is now Austin isn't wearing his pjs anymore. He remains in a pair of basketball shorts and a red shirt. It isn't summer however here in San Antonio it's always summer weather. I also notice how his hair remains hidden behind a snap back.
"Um sure come in I need to get ready." I reply as I motioned for Austin to enter my home. Austin smiles this adorabe smile as he enters.
"You have a beautiful home." He says as I clsoe the door behind him.
"Thank you. Make yourself at home I will be down in a few." I smile as I study him once again. He sends me a warm welcoming smile which shows his dimples. I shake my thoughts away as I hurry for my bedroom. I don't want to keep him waiting. Plus I can't be thinking these thoughts about another boy while Haze is still freshly on my mind.
"I am Camila it's nice to meet you." I add before I hit the staircase.
Without wanting to turn away from Austin's charms I quickly go through my morning routine as I toss on this white sumemr's dress. I toss on my brown americn egale flops as I push my hair back into a messy ponytail. Usually I would try to look a little mroe decent only Austin caught me off guard.
With one last look at my phone I grab my purse and run downstairs. A smile forms across my face as I notice Austin sitting on the couch.
"Wow you look cute." Austin replies without even thinking about what he just said. I bite my cheecks as I could feel embarrassment take over. No other boy has ever called me cute before. The only other boy who has called me cute isn't in my life anymore. Well he's still in my life just not as my boyfriend.
"You ready?" I ask trying not to sound embarssed.
"More than ready." Austin respons as he lets out a little chuckle. It's obvious he finds my embarssement funny.
My body starts to tense up a little as I notice Austin study every inch of me. I am sure by now he has pointed out my flaws. I push my insecurities away as I take Austin's offered lead and head up to this big fancy red range rover which remains parked across the street.
-------
"Oh my god really?!" I gasp as Austin just told me this story about how he almost drowned due to a jet ski accent with his best friend Alex.
"Yeah really. I was scared shitless." Austin chuckles.
A waitress comes over as she hands Austin a check.
"Here let me pay for -
I am interrputed by a note falling out of my purse. I quickly gather the note. I am about to push it back in my purse when one name is seen through the corner of my eye. A cry escapes as I start reading the most depressing words that I have ever read in my existence.
