I looked out the plane window, sighing. I knew my sister was out there. Ever since I was a child, I knew I had a lost sister. How? She visited me in my dreams. I know it sounds crazy, but what's not? The truth is crazy sometimes.
I knew her face so well now. She wasn't normal. She was...black and white. She looked very scary, but I still liked her stories. The one she most often kept reminding me of was her story.
She said that her father was just like mine. He invented a great many things. But her father created one more thing than mine. A machine. And she was very upset when she explained to me that her father put her in the machine. After a few months with her, I put the puzzle pieces together.
That's why you're like this, I said to her. That's why you look like this. I'm terribly sorry.
But after years was when I saw the whole picture come together.
You're my sister, I said to her one night. Father put you in his machine when I was a baby.
She shook her head.
"No. I am your sister in an alternate world. But you will never find me. You will look for a solution that cannot be found, until you entirely forget about me."
