song: "To the Moon and back"by Savage Garden
Ethan
I wasn't much into loud parties anymore, but somehow that was all I ended up doing since I got back in town.
High-school parties, college parties, raves, outdoor midnight gatherings that included car and motorbike races... It was a lot.
Everyone wanted me everywhere, especially my old friends from high school, so I felt that I had to go, to make up for the lost time.
After four years of military school, I guess I could use some freedom, some new ways to relax.
It wasn't easy, though, with discipline and strict schedule being imprinted in my brain for so long.
At times, I felt like an alien, so distant and uninterested in that kind of life. The alcohol, the music, the girls... None of this impressed me even remotely, but I really wanted to get back with some old friends, so I had to go with the flow.I was back for good and with a reason, but I had to rebuild my old relationships from scratch.
Not very hard when you're a Hale, though.
Who doesn't like to have a rich friend, right?
"You want another one?" Lucas asked me and for a moment, I have forgotten where I was.
He handed me another beer, taking my silence for agreement.
At another party, that's where I was.
Our friend Elijah was hosting tonight, the three of us used to play hockey together. We lost contact for a while after I left, they don't allow cellphones in military school after all, but caught up pretty fast since my official return.
"Thanks." I mumbled to Lucas and he nodded before drinking from his own bottle. It was hard to hear each other well over the loud music, so we didn't talk much.
Plus, there were a lot of beautiful available girls at the party, and Lucas loved girls. He never settled down even once for only one and flirting was like breathing to him.
The girls also loved Lucas - he was tall, handsome, with olive skin and warm eyes, always polite and careful with them, even though he never promised more than one night.
Tonight, thou, he didn't seem to be able to choose which one to bring home, and even though we have barely arrived, he already wanted to leave the party early.
"Elijah says we'll have to move the fun somewhere else, anyway." Lucas explained as I didn't want to stroll around town pointlessly and preferred to go home. "Something about his neighbours complaining. We plan on drinking at the Royal, and then going to the races. You can't say no."
I rolled my eyes at him, definitely shaking my head no.
"I can and I will." I yelled in his ear as someone pumped the music up even louder than before. "The Royal is a royal shithole, who in their right mind even goes there anymore?"
Lucas made me a sign to wait for him to chug his beer in one go, then leaned in to speak again.
"Well, your brother Jasper doesn't seem to think the place is that bad. I heard that he is playing tonight with some chick. Let go watch a little, then you decide about the races. Come oooooon! Don't be a bore."
I arched my eyebrows at Lucas, quite surprised. Jazz always played with Ryan and there was no chick in their band, nor did he have the time for another side project. I was intrigued.
"Fine, I'll come for a couple more beers, but only because Jasper is playing. I'll be leaving after that."
Lucas threw his hands in the air, faking surrender, but his eyes were laughing as he made a sign for Elijah and the boys to follow us.
