~ Reader's POV ~
I parked the car a few streets away from the main building, shakily pulling the keys out of the ignition and slipping them safely into a pocket. I reminded myself to just keep breathing and try to calm my racing heart.
I was used to doing this kind of thing, we did all sorts of operations of this caliber all the time, but I guess none of them were ever as big as Blume themselves, and none of them as dire. We needed to erase this information, or Dedsec was as good as well... "ded".
I got out of the car, slamming the door behind me and wandering over to the others at the trunk, I leaned in, grabbed my bag and then closed it too. Placing the bag on top of the car, I began rummaging through it, placing multiple items in secret pockets or holsters, and then I slung the straps around my shoulders, tying my bandana securely around my neck and leaving it to hang there comfortably.
"Alright, Part A is a go." I muttered, glancing at Marcus and Wrench.
"I'll go secure the perimeter around our escape route and work my way inside until I meet up with you guys, by then we'll have a clear path out of there." Marcus explained, clicking a cartridge into his stun pistol and walking on ahead of us. "Good luck you two."
"You too. Be careful!" I warned, smiling gently. He nodded, returning the smile and moving into a jog, disappearing around the street corner.
I looked over at Wrench, he seemed nervous too, not that I could really tell by his expression or anything, but I could feel it.
"Okay, you and I have to break into the main terminal and find the right data hold-" I started, going straight across the street.
Wrench matched my pace and pulled out his phone, preparing to hack the main door's code.
"Right, let's fuck their shit up!" He cheered. (^ ^)
"Yeah, nobody fucks with Dedsec and gets away with it." I growled lowly.
We rounded a few more street corners and pushed our way through busy crowds, but eventually found ourselves standing in the elaborate courtyard of Blume Corporations, a very tall water fountain spilled very blue water out in a luxurious arc. Flowers and trees bloomed fully and brightly, adorning the grounds in a way so that it would seem as if this was the very exception of perfection.
Workers and business people talked and strolled through the area while programmed Haum robots rolled on their chosen paths, greeting every human who they thought appropriate.
Yep, this place was the very essence of fuckery. It leaked off every dollar they put into it, and it sickened me.
Wrench felt the same way, I looked at him and noticed that his fists were clenched tightly, and I subconsciously slipped a hand over his whitening knuckles.
"Let's get this over with." I spoke softly, attempting to calm him.
"Yeah." he breathed, hands unclenching and he intertwined his fingers with mine, if even for just a few moments.
We walked up the stone steps, getting looks of shock and judgment, some people even daring to throw a few glares our way.
But we ignored them, our beat-up sneakers leaving their mark on what would soon be a broken technological world.
...
Wrench showed me the screen of his phone, a series of numbers blinked back at me and I punched them into the keypad on the doors, it made a satisfied chime and slid open, allowing us to walk inside freely.
