Madeleine POV

I stared into his clear blue eyes as he slid down next to me on the ground.

"So you came." I said drily, trying to get into a comfortable position on the cold floor. He sighed.

"I'm sorry." He muttered. My heart instantly forgave him, but my brain was the usual b*tch.

He left you stranded in pain for a week.

My brain whispered.

"Where were you???" my brain asked angrily. Thankfully my heart added some confusion and sadness so that I wouldn't sound like a total b*tch.

"You know, my life is f*cked up." He said, looking me straight into the eyes.

"Well, my life isn't exactly perfect either." I mumbled. Suddenly I felt tears build up in my eyes.

F*ck you, you emotional b*tch!! Quit crying!!!

My brain screamed at my heart.

To my complete and utter shock I felt warm arms pull me into a tight hug.

And suddenly, I saw my life in a very different angle. Everything seemed much brighter and better.

The warmness of the hug softened my soul and a twinge of emotion escaped my heart.

"Thank you for coming." I mumbled.

"Thank my guilty conscience." Marshall replied. I laughed and unfortunately he pulled away.

"You aright??" he asked, concern clearly lining his words. I laughed again.

"I'm fine now." I replied happily.

I looked over his shoulder to see that my ex was gone.

"He's gone." I sighed in relief.

"Yeah, I made sure of that." Marshall confirmed. I could tell that he was silently cursing the attacker under his breath.

I smiled, and a weight was suddenly lifted off my shoulders.

This was my savior.

Who had come to help carry my burden in life.

And he wasn't failing his task.
